    What I wish Machinists had as job actions

    Hi everyone! I posted this on the FF14 Reddit, and apparently lots of people enjoyed it (at least partly), with someone telling me I could share it in this forum!

    I sketched some skills I would want Machinists to have in Final Fantasy XIV! (Nothing too serious of course, but I love that job, and have hope that one day it will be given more love and be a cool and useful job!)





    Defibrillator as a revive (that makes you lose some damage burst, but can help in a pinch if the healer died). Someone even recommended having a new token when reaching 100 battery that can be used for that, without losing battery charges.

    Sniper as a cool but slow skill, to force you to take advantage of your speed (run to a safe place, shoot, then flee).

    Rocket Launcher for EXPLOSIONS. Initially I wanted it to replace Auto Crossbow, but then many people told me it was part of the core machinist lore inspiration. So now I imagine it as a stronger and rarer AoE attack.

    And Flare Signal to finally give machinists a team support. Help everyone with their burst of damage, or with avoiding attack mechanics! But you need to get close to everyone to give them that (so you run closer, then leave).


    Do yall like some of these? Do you have cool inspiration in your mind as well?

    Very cool haha. I do not know a lot about mch but on inspirational ideas. Omega comes to mind. Attacking or defending. Maybe your flare could be an aether shield. Increasing allies damage or negating enemy damage.

    Either way. Very cool.

    Yeah, I think having a bit of shield would fit the role as well! Especially since healing and damage are already handled by bard.

    I think I saw this on Reddit as well!

    Defibrilator is a no brainer in case they decide to give a rez to the MCH. I wonder how much battery it would cost... probably something that represented a similar dps loss to a SMN hardcasting a Raise or not Swiftcasting Slipstreaam on their rotation.

    I always pictured that one direction they could expand upon for 7.0 i giving Heat Blast a combo sequence, and the Rocket Launcher idea seems perfect for the finishing stage of the combo!

    One thing that I thought it could be an unique utility for MCH is a "Medkit". 120s recast time, it gives a small heal but also cuts 20 second of the Brink of Death debuff, letting you or an ally get back to their feet faster.

    A LOT of people on Reddit reacted badly to a dps loss for a rez, but in my mind it just makes sense. It's both a deterrent (to leave the job to healers) and a tool in a bad spot!

    Oh, a combo sequence? That could maybe even help with the ping issue, where they can set a proper combo without being too time limited.

    Ooooh interesting, never thought of a skill that could influence Brink of Death.

    This tbh, I feel the class needs more dps buttons, maybe some sort of damage up to keep up, not support since it is meant to be the ranged selfish dps

    The tryhard elitist is the person who is going to finish their 5 pieces on this created to be beaten """"challenge"""" and then complaint that the baby, slower or less dexterous person are a problem which not only is toxic but indirectly implies that doing this basic created to be beaten task faster is an """achievement""" of """great skill""" which helps to falsely boost the elitist's self worth as that is their true motive, if challenge was truly their desire they would relish in the chance to do more than the rest.
    The healthy person on the other hand will either let people finish their part or assist them for their self worth does not depend on solving basic puzzles created to be beaten, aka as a video game.

    Idk why they would react that badly, when both RDM and SMN's raises come at the expense of potency. Mostly 1 GCD worth of potency, and even more unlikely for SMN who actively uses Swift on their rotations (thus having to hard cast the spell)... They would just need a calculation to equate more or less that expense translated to battery gauge.

    Honestly, I have a hot take on rezzes: They should just create a variation of phoenix down, a consumable usable in battle with 5min recast time. This way, the Raises would become just a more practical version of that, a job perk instead of a job staple that weights in their dps.

    I agree! Seems so similar! But I think the reactions comes from people who already think MCH doesn't have enough damage output as is, which in a way is valid.
