Disconnecting in Palace of the Dead

You've heard of rage threads being made for things that happen but this is just a "feels absolutely defeated thread."

Taking a pretty decent break from FFXIV, (The last thing I was doing was Palace) I come back some weeks ago and catch up on all the content. No disconnects, no server errors, just everything running as it should.

This Monday, "Hey how about I try and clear palace of the dead again after such a long time putting it off." I then proceed to spend the rest of the week and a good session today getting all the way back up 100(which isn't my furthest as people who have lost on higher floors know re-clearing is just part of the long long process). I think to myself about maybe just stopping here for the night and spending tomorrow finishing that grind.

With good momentum and a good mindset I go back in and start floor 101...

Two minutes in... disconnect. (Hours of time gone, could have built a tower of cards and then had it knocked over while I wasn't near it for the same effect)

I almost just want to quit again and put the game away for a while.

Anyways, it felt good to write this out, may luck be with somebody else because it's definitely not with me.

(Man I hope in the future there is a way to stop this problem)

Mhm, I lost many many floors of progress trying for the Necromancer title due to disconnects. The internet around here just isn't very good, it's not even worth trying. Would be nice to have some kind of disconnect protection but that could be abused.

It's messed up tbh. So many hours wasted just because the internet decides to take a sneeze. They really should rework this, even if it's just the netcode.

Half of why I haven't even bothered trying even though I want the title is how much getting it relies on rng and luck... Including being lucky enough to have your internet stay reliable the entire way through :/

what do you mean rng and progress tied to the stability of the instance servers that died when the IS was released was a bad idea?!

It sucks, but you'll get used to it. Eventually when you accumulate enough experience floors 1-170 or so will end up being trivial. The only punishing factor at that point will be the time investment. One time I had my laptop stutter due to unknown factors, twice in about 2-3 seconds. FFXIV didnt like that and booted me on RDM on floor 198 without hesitation.

I have necromancer on my main and an alt (all for the lulz because I thought a sprout necromancer would be funny). I'd recommend just taking a breather for the time being. Even I can only devote maybe 1 solid run in a week which may or may not end at 180+

I DC'd in my solo palace run too when the servers went down. Last night I think the downtime was also during the Ruby Dragon window.

As I'm typing this the servers have gone down for the 3rd or 4th time in a couple days. I get this stuff happens, but holey moley is it dissapointing when it happens at a bad time.

It happened a moment ago as well as last night. I would recommend holding off on solos for awhile until the servers (or the connection to) stop dying.

It isnt worth losing 10+ hours of progress.

Had this happen to me in HoH last night. I wouldnt even try the deep dungeons because of bad internet for months. It finally seemed to stop. In fact, I've had 2 disconnects in the last 6 months... BOTH were in either HoH or PotD . Terrible luck but Ill keep going.

They really need to change it. Once Ihad a member dc on floor 98 in hoh and wouldn't let us go to the next floor. Happened during the boss fight. Sure not fun when you loose hours of your time from it.
