Bumping, because I REALLY want Dawntrail to deliver. Endwalker has felt like a bit of a dud, personally, just in that it really dropped the ball on Zodiark, but the last of Job quests REALLY leave the jobs feeling pretty interchangeable.

Seems the game has been backed into a corner and will soon need to pick a side, i'm a fan and kept playing because the game was full of so much to do, it all took time and may have been just different ways to acquire tomes/knickknacks but the stories wrapped around the errands is what kept the playerbase going, i still have my weapons glammed as animas because thats what i said i would do, take the anima on my adventures.
compare that to the mandervilles which i only keep getting because it just makes sense to toss all these tomes at them, they arent special imho.
chasing after all these new players who are hellbent on reaching endgame has made the game betray itself, simplify all the systems and snatch away its identity which is really based on its storytelling, its why endwalker and its parts felt weird, because they were rushed.
I understand wanting to bring in new people but the ones who are coming wont stay like the old ones who allowed the game to get as big as it is.
Their excuse of too many job doesn't event stand when we now have less quests than ARR... Not to mention DoL/DoH jobs never changed but they got cut too.
yeah I generally preferred the old class quests too. The role quests range from fine-to-great but I'd like to see our class bosses back, which might be a pretty hard ask given how many of them there are, but...man I wanna see Alberic and Oboro and the like getting back into shenanigans with us.
Yeah, there are just so many fun characters we meet in all of our Class/Job quests, I would really like to see them continue moving along.
Like I said, it could also be really cool if they wanted to group certain Jobs together to experience the same story, so you would actually get a bit of crossover between characters from different jobs.
Like maybe the Reapers could have some interesting conversations with Sidurgu, or even the Sultansworn attempting to find common ground with him.
That would cut down of the work dramatically, and actually could wind up even MORE exciting to boot! Like I said, the example that really comes to my mind would be the old Pugilists' guild getting to share the spotlight for some kind of big new tournament.
Since these quests would obviously require multiple Jobs leveled up, just make sure they're purely optional. Maybe they award some unique weapon glamours for the Jobs involved, stuff like that?
Same. Also, we can springboard from them to new NPCs, like we do when going from the base class stories to job stories at 30. (Or as we do in most of the crafting/gathering quests all the way to 70.) Like, K'lyhia and her mentor are still a potential plot thread from the Arcanist questline, just dangling there and waiting.

I wish that as part of new job quests (or instead of) you could pick one or two jobs to have as a 'main' of sorts- and missions would happen for them. Ninja could be one and a shinobi could randomly appear (overworld or in a city hub) and hand you a message on a piece of paper that there is something happening somewhere and you need to go deal with it. For Ninja it could involve some sneaking and KO'ing enemies at a location- and if you are detected in the detection part, or KO'd in the fight later- that's it and you blew it and it's gone for the day/week. It would probably be best to have it so you have a buff skill you activate (on call), and it auto turns off when you are in a party or queue for something. Reward needs to be something good - perhaps let the succeeding player choose their reward from a variety of currencies (giving the player some choice/ultility based on their current goals) and maybe some new unique ones (and maybe some untradeable special visual prism effect items). Perhaps build on this further by having a thing where ONE job can be selected to gain some spell/skill speed or damage the longer you wear it's current glam/gear- if you change the hair or even a ring, the buff that you built up over (up to) 6 weeks is lost (a 2-3% damage buff overall is hit at the end of the 6th week, for that one job only- but we need to be able to set hairstyles/colours to individual glamours/gearsets first). Overall the unfortunate situation is that jobs are just becoming glamours of each other and the single-use job quests don't make you feel like you are that job long term and you end up like a bit of a guildless, unemployed job impersonator. Coincidentally I would say that Blue Mage does not have this problem, but nor should it serve as an exact template to apply to the other jobs.
I really miss the old job quests a lot. Some of my absolute favorite storylines have been in the job quests and it was nice to have stories that don't involve high stakes like saving the world/universe/a nation. I know it's a lot of work, but it would be nice to see even a single quest per expansion over what we get now.
As for the DoL/DoH quests, if they don't plan on doing more of them I wouldn't mind seeing them make the guildmasters custom delivery clients. It would give us a reason to talk to them again and keep them somewhat relevant. Sure they couldn't do them all in one expansion, but since we're lucky if they get a couple lines of new dialogue every four years this would be a good trade off.
I mean we all know the real reason they stopped job specific quests
nothing could hope compete with the dark knight quest line
becoming my enemy would be unwise
the reason they created the "role quests" instead was because the number of jobs was beginning to become too unwieldy to have to keep on creating content for. plus there was no need to keep checking back in with your former "trainers" as by the EW times you've far outclassed them. I'm not disappointed they're gone and that the resources are going somewhere else. Plus also keeping skills locked behind job quests is no longer a problem when you run into someone who hasn't done their job quests.
The SE answer it's ridiculous and should be ashamed of themselves , they demand 15 usd monthly to connect to the game ( much more than gamepass ultimate) and 90% of side content are just wall of non voiced text
