The problem is, and again, this has been stated numerous times when it comes to aveyond, he states his opinion as objective fact instead of objective opinion, and states that the majority agree with him without any kind of statistics to back this up.

In this very thread he states the game is hemorrhaging players at a rapid pace. Where did he get that info? I haven't seen any indication that this is true.

People not logging into the game are an indication that it is true, and yes that is based on personal experience, I also have seen a lot of people stop logging in at all in my friend list, and if those people leave, that does mean that quite a lot of people are quitting the game, either due to lack of content, or due to how boring the content is, or it's simply not worth the time anymore.

Ignoring anyone who disagrees with you will do that.

This thread's just obvious bait. If not, then it's petty. Sure, Aveyond has controversial opinions and stuff, but this thread doesn't even qualify.
Though I will point out that he can indeed say good things about the game, he just focuses on being negative too much. That has happened.

Regardless, there has always been a clear bias against the stuff that Yoshi doesn't personally play. This extends to nearly every facet of the game, with this latest bit being the latest example of that. He wasn't into it, so he let them release an island where all you do is click things. It is not acceptable.

The dude plays a Lalafell and female Raen, you think he would've let either race remain in the state Hrothgar and Viera were in for 2 years until people started going behind his back in order to clean up the state of those two races? Or how about if his favorite class was Blue Mage instead of Black Mage, would it have been reduced to a useless minigame you can't do current content with?

This just isn't the kind of thread for that.

You want to address the fact that Yoshida has let a lot of content slide under the radar at the detriment of those who would actively enjoy it? Content that he clearly doesn't play through? That's already been stated, there are a bunch of threads asking Yoshida to play Hrothgar, Viera, a Healer... But opening up the topic with just "he hasn't played it on his main account yet" isn't saying much. So he hasn't played Island Sanctuary. We don't know if the rest of the dev team likes it. Nor do we know how the man chooses to spend his personal, private time. We don't know if he intends to or not in the future.

Just saying, Aveyond, this is a bit weak.

I've tried in the past. He either doesn't respond at all, or responds just to say that he's not responding. It'd honestly be kinda funny if the joke wasn't beaten to death.

I'd like to believe that Yoshi could base the success of something on statistics or other objective methods. Maybe the number of subs ticked up? Maybe there are many more logins than usual.

Right. But that doesn't mean because a chef has to eat everything they make if they work at a restaurant. Nor does what a chef eats off the menu at their own restaurant have any impact on the success of the restaurant. I highly doubt any chef of any restaurant goes through and eats everything on the menu of where they work on a regular basis (over the course of several days, not all at once).

OP's trying to say that because YoshiP hasn't played Island Sanctuary on his personal account that it's somehow usable as proof that the patch wasn't successful.

They do make it very convenient, especially the crew that rather desperately follows Aveyond around.

The interesting thing about the Aveyond fan club is that the normal response to not liking someone's posts or someone's persona on a public internet forum would be to block them, but they can't bring themselves to do that. They purposefully keep him unblocked because they have to see what he's writing, and they have to be ready at a moment's notice to shoot down what he's saying. It's almost like an obsession. This guy lives in their heads rent free.

As mentioned several times, blocking doesn't hide created threads for some reason, so we are stuck with seeing them anyway.

Plus, it's rather entertaining reading his completely off the walls takes. It's like reading bad take Twitter threads on politics actually.

Not saying you have, but I can definitely understand why op wouldnt take anyone in defense of Square seriously, WoW went down that route, and it went bad, people kept defending over and over again the worst decisions, be it content wise, balance etc, and people are doing the exact same in this game, because of people like that, games are doomed to fail as any sort of criticism is immediately rejected by the community as bait or trolling.



It does matter if he plays the content he made on his personal account, because if the content itself was enjoyable, he would have done it by now.

Like I've said, and like you have elected to ignore, many of these developers test the content, and go through validating it as part of QA, equally they have their own lives. I'm sorry but if you're testing quality for potentially tens of hundreds of hours for QA and bug-finding then regardless of the content you are probably not going to be as enthused about doing it on your personal content afterward.

That being said, whether they have done it on their main account is sort of irrelevant in the context of Island Sanctuary, arguably in many facets of content, this does apply. Whether a developer likes the content or not -- More importantly the community reception and perception around the content are arguably more important as they are the ones exhausting the product. -- In other words, a project manager or developer can develop and manage content that they personally don't like if they feel it is something that the larger player base would participate in.

Developing content that you only personally have an interest in is a surefire way to eventually kill the product or stagnate the player base. It's not a clever thing to do at all. Sometimes they just need to develop content they don't enjoy - This of course lies under the assumption that Yoshida hates the content which is not really something anyone can say, really.

I would argue that Island Sanctuary is not an entirely finished product, and nor is it without flaws, but it has the good foundations already to be content with a lot of substance with it and is something they can continue to develop even with arguably fairly positive reception. Again, not without flaws but positively received.

So I will stick with my point of a low-tier post.

If I'm gonna see them anyway, may as well have some fun replying. Don't you enjoy watching people with crazy conspiracy theories? Seeing how their brains work sometimes is entertaining too.

Work can be slow at times. Not like he responds to anyone who disagrees with him anyway. Can't even criticise him or he hides behind "internet bullying".


Also, it's always funny that the same group complaining about aveyond haters comes in to defend him every time. Except that one thread you guys couldn't even defend it was so bad lol. Your absence was incredibly telling.

Is there a point buried deep in there somewhere? I am not part of any "you guys" that may exist in your imagination, nor do I agree with every comment Aveyond makes.
