Pissed as hell with the server instability!

That sucks. I knew someone who had that happen to him, and he didn't log on afterwards for like 4 days. Fairly certain it wasn't his net too, since we all got the boot from XIV and the login queue was huge.
Anyway, at least you don't play on balmung. This thread would be full of people saying you deserved to be kicked for, uhh, *checks notes* playing on a popular server.

The net is more than just your direct connection to your isp. That's why if ATT or FIOS has an issue somewhere further down the line, it can effect people from other states, while people on other ISPs won't have issues connecting to the game.

Websites don't care about packet loss, and neither does video streaming (that's what buffering is for).

XIV only has 1 set of servers for each data center, and they are located in California. If your isp routes you through a faulty node, you can see lots of people on the same isp having DC issues, while others have none.


It really does amaze me in the current internet centric world how few people actually understand what's going on beyond "my internet works or doesn't"

Yeah dude, it's crazy that people would look at everyone else getting kicked, a massive queue to get back in, and "Everything else working fine" and think that the problem was with the one thing not working. Crazy how in this internet centric world, people would ignore the most obvious shit while troubleshooting.

I'm talking about the OPs issue currently. There was no notice about issues with their world server.

I've seen people complain about this when the server has had trouble before. But it is very rare.

Usually it's not the server having trouble, but a DDoS attack. I did experience some lag the other day that felt like one, but it's usually not SE's fault. SE could blame us for DDoS attacks but what they do is contact the ISP that was attacked and help them setup counter-measures and it usually prevents more attacks for months.

This has been happening often on my end too. Something's up lately with their servers I think. I don't recall having this much issue

waiting on shadowbringer alliance raid que....made it while waiting for almost an hr...5 minutes to run...boom!!!! kicked out! so frustrating.

update...400 + in que...multiple error 2002..haven't made it back in-game so far!

My guess is more DDoS, related to the account break in attempts. I was having no issues until yesterday, and only twice now. But its suspicious this started right as that announcement went out.
