The net is more than just your direct connection to your isp. That's why if ATT or FIOS has an issue somewhere further down the line, it can effect people from other states, while people on other ISPs won't have issues connecting to the game.

Websites don't care about packet loss, and neither does video streaming (that's what buffering is for).

XIV only has 1 set of servers for each data center, and they are located in California. If your isp routes you through a faulty node, you can see lots of people on the same isp having DC issues, while others have none.


It really does amaze me in the current internet centric world how few people actually understand what's going on beyond "my internet works or doesn't"
