Dot focused class in the future

Trying out summoner again I realized the dot aspect seems to be gone so it can focus more on summoning, previously it did have that weird dot/summoning combination but now that it focuses purely on summoning it seems very fitting.

But that of course means we have no dot class, could it mean they are removing dot from many classes so they can create a more dot focused class in the next xpac which is a class type we dont have in ff14 currently?

DoT Spreader is the dream. But I think they are going to commit to their 2 minute burst no brains required combat loop...which implies they don't want DoTs at all even though they slap on a DoT on 15-16 classes out of 20.

I think a DOT class where you could you just throw on a ton of dots and maybe even use that uptime to do utility with your party or do mechanics could be fun.

I was hopeful the DOT removal from the healers and then from SMN was an indicator that they were making a DOT class, then they go and give a general melee 10% up damage buff as a debuff so now I’m just like “y’all just don’t like ranged classes huh”

I wouldn’t hold my breath for a DOT class unfortunately

They'd probably have to add a burst-trigger to these DoTs. Think about how Automaton Queen/Rook work. The damage bonus at the end can be triggered early if necessary. They'd need to do that.

That said this game is now on the 2 min bust train and Dots kind of run counter to that design philosophy
