Has there been any recent sighitngs of a peregrine helm?

Hey, just as the title says, has anybody seen a peregrine helm drop recently from a quick venture? (They're a black onion helm with red feathers.) I know there was some speculation that they got removed in 5.3, but that was also speculated about the red onion helm for a while, but I've been looking at the red onion helm prices for a while now and noticed that they went from almost no listings in the tens of millions, to suddenly having a bunch of listings in the 1-2m range, meaning that they were either put back in the drop table, or already were in it and had their drop rate boosted. I know the onion doublet set is in the drop table still since I had one drop in 6.3, so I'm hoping that maybe someone's seen the peregrine helm recently, last I need to complete my onion helm collection.

I don't know about the Peregrine Helm specifically but it looks like they really broke the loot tables for "dud prizes". Even the stuff that used to be common at level 50 has turned super rare – the other week I found that the Mage's Chausses were exactly the colour I needed for an outfit but there wasn't a single pair on sale in all of Elemental DC. That stuff used to just hang around cheap forever because it was ugly ARR gear that nobody wanted much, but some of the weapons looked cool, and the bom boko plushies that have replaced it are even more useless.

Yeah, all the tradable ilvl 52 gear from 1.x were removed from the loot table at some point. Other 1.x gear that made it to arr ended up reused as dungeon gear, things like the red onion helm still drop, albeit rarely, but the peregrine helm isn't tradable and it's ilvl 30, so it wouldn't be in any of the sets that we can confirm aren't in the game anymore, but at the same time I haven't heard of any recent sightings either. So it's a bit of a guessing game right now.

I'd like to get that too for collection.
I guess the best way to test that would be to have a retainer locked at lvl.30 ; sadly I already leveled all my jobs and they don't add low levels jobs anymore (or limited that you can't set your retainer to anyway)
Since it's EX, doing it on an alt would be purely for test purpose as you'll never be able to retrieve it, so I'm not sure if it's worth the venture cost.

I've been doing quick ventures every time I'm at my retainer for years now and it wasn't until recently that I got the Onion Doublet, which is the only one of the non-tradeable pieces I've ever received. Based on that my hypothesis is that the drop chances for these items is incredibly low.

Hard to know what that means unless you quantify it. I do about 200 quick ventures a week, and sometimes up to 300 if i play all weekend, and maybe less if i'm raiding on different DC. I'll definitely have close to 10000 quick ventures this year. I've seen at least 2 pieces of 1.0 gear this year. So, could be in the ballpark of 1/2500 to 1/5000.

I asked the same question recently ingame, someone answered they got it a few months ago. Seems like quick venture retainer loot tables are extremely scuffed now, and the chances are just abysmal low to get them. Similar how coil items were part of the loot table once.

I really hope SE lets use pick a quick venture category per expac or something, to increase chances from what era we get some items.

I thought I would mention that this is false. I've gotten about 2 pieces of tradeable 1.0 gear in 2023. There is no proof that they were ever removed from the loot table at any point either.

In any case, if they haven't been removed then they've clearly been reduced to the point that supply is extremely scarce. Like, one per year across the data centre if you're lucky.

Onion pattens, Red Onion Helm, Gerbald's Redspike, and I'm pretty sure a few others, but I typically vendor them.

You don't have any data to support that.


Most of the 1.0 items do not have unique models. Thus, only the name is different. Most people don't know the 1.0 item names. If no one can tell if you have a lvl 50 piece or a 1.0 lvl 52 piece without examining you, the items are worthless. I'm fairly convinced that many 1.0 items drop and most people vendor them because they are low level greens. I do the same thing.

The clearest exceptions are most of the head pieces and onion gear. The onion body/legs/feet are white and non-tradeable. So you wouldn't have reason to know whether they are reduced or not. For the most part, the onion gear is ugly. The onion head pieces are not generally desirable because they cover up hair and accessories. You're really only left with the red onion helm that a general player might recognize and try to sell, as a source for data.

If you look at the new servers, they generally have them pop up relatively fast. It's just impossible to believe that 1.0 gear isn't dropping regularly.
