Important aspects to the story that were just dropped

It has been a decade long story at this point so there are quite a few, what are some aspects of the story or plot points you are unhappy that were dropped/ignored?

One of the most disappointing plot points for me was the resonant, an ability so powerful it could challenge the WoL and even make an unsundered run away.

Considering a big part of shadowbringers was the sundered not being on par with the unsundered it feels a bit annoying that the resonant was ignored considering how powerful it was, while also being literally made in a factory so mass production was an option with enough captive subjects.

Like why didnt Garlemald have an legion of sharingan using soldiers!

The tryhard elitist is the person who is going to finish their 5 pieces on this created to be beaten """"challenge"""" and then complaint that the baby, slower or less dexterous person are a problem which not only is toxic but indirectly implies that doing this basic created to be beaten task faster is an """achievement""" of """great skill""" which helps to falsely boost the elitist's self worth as that is their true motive, if challenge was truly their desire they would relish in the chance to do more than the rest.
The healthy person on the other hand will either let people finish their part or assist them for their self worth does not depend on solving basic puzzles created to be beaten, aka as a video game.

We killed the guy that commissioned the research (Zenos) and the head researcher (Aulus.)

The Garlean Empire didn't try and salvage it from his notes because they weren't interested in it in the first place due to their anti-magic bias (and probably a dash of Ascian manipulation too,) and Zenos didn't pick it back up after resurrecting himself because he already had his copy installed and didn't really care about the wider Empire.

    -----

On topic though. Plot threads about what's happening in other parts of the Empire seem to have been, if not dropped as such, at least wrapped up too abruptly for my tastes. Hopefully they've got some stuff planned we've just yet to see, there was talk of releasing Garlean weapons and armour sets a while back, a perfect thing to tie into some more Garlemald content.

As it is though, Bozja just kinda stopped, and fighting Nerva in the tower with the leaders of the Alliance was pretty dumb IMHO.

Yeah remember how we absolutely murdered that 2nd boss in Ala Mhigo? Yeah that was the lead scientist behind Resonants. Just like how Black Rose was eventually canned by Zenos so did that project.

It's kinda funny how Zenos single handedly destroyed any hope for Garlemald to succeed

Yet Varis openly said he would do anything if it furthers the empire, and again the resonant is a RIDICULOUSLY powerful weapon, I would understand if we are talking about a garden variety weapon but the resonant literally makes you able to challenge unsundered, to throw it away due to some silly anti magic bias is like throwing nuclear weapons even though they would easily allow you to dominate other nations

At least that is understandable, Zenos never cared for the empire, but you would assume at least someone would be interest in the power that made him be so damn powerful.

None of these things were dropped. We literally fight the resonant in Endwalker because we are fighting Zenos, the person who has it. In the role quests we see more of the consequences of it on Fordola.

None of the other Garleans mess with the resonant because they are not crazy like Zenos, they are not interested in just gaining power just to "feel something" and they wouldn't sanction it. Their scientists were not allowed to persue it under others until Zenos allowed them to, their scientists were killed and the rest of the Garleans were destroyed too so the army of them didn't come about.

SE doesn't really drop things because they are committed to not leaving anything unexplored and that's why everything from the Allagans and the Twelve to the Isle of Val and the Thirteenth are being explained over time.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

IIRC, Aulus was laughed out of the capital trying to sell the Garlean government on his research, with only Zenos being willing to provide him with the resources required to pursue it.

I don't recall if we're told how long ago all that happened, but given that Varis didn't become Emperor until Heavensward there is a decent chance that Aulus was trying to appeal to the Emet/Solus government, not the Varis one. After Varis takes over, it's likely his only familiarity with the research is that it's some pet project funded by his son, a son he doesn't have a particularly high opinion of.

After Varis sees it used to challenge an Unsundered, and likely gains some inkling as to its potential power, he's killed, and Zenos takes over.

I was also expecting the Resonant to resurface during the MSQ proper, not just as a lazy plot device in Bozja.

The Garleans apparently maintained a substantial information network when it comes to their technology among other things, so it might still be a bit premature to write it off as completely irrelevant now when we still don't know what the rogue legions holed up in Ilsabard are trying to accomplish; particularly with the now "liberated" Corvos standing as a potential point of contention for them.

It also bugged me that those two were seemingly resolved entirely off-screen.

Perhaps once 6.5 presumably settles back into a brief period of normalcy again before everything goes to heck we might get a follow-up.

That's usually the setup for the final villain. Problem is they handled it in the most ass way possible.

The worst one for me was the unexplained significance of Lake Silvertear in Mor Dhona.
Hydaelyn tasked Midgardsormr to protect it and he did for 10 000 years.

But we never really explored what was the deal with that.
There's a 1.0 trailer showing the ARR primals popping out of it but that's it.

And with Hydaelyn and Midgardsormr gone, the two people tied to that plot are gone.
The only hope i have is for the Alliance Raid to mention it, considering we go to the gods realm from the lake.
