Allow us to test different races without using Fantasia

In regards to the character creation screen, and even when using the Aesthetician, I feel like the lighting in each environment isn't great. It might vary between races to be honest, but having a male Miqo'te... My race's idle pose has my character looking down slightly, and so every environment casts shadows on my character's face, which makes it kind of annoying to really see how I like my face with different hairstyles, and it was probably a bit annoying back when I made my character to begin with.

How do you test non-base emotes that you have to unlock/buy from the mogstation? What about hair styles? Making an alt is NOT a passable alternative, and having to put that much effort into making a character for just the voices alone is bad. A new player isn't going to be aware the voice previews are terrible, they're generally not going to make a dozen different characters to figure out what they want as they are wanting to actually get into the game and play.

Hair is a fair one. Voices can be found on YT so there's also that.

A new player probably won't be caring about most if any of this so not sure why that was even mentioned tbh. I'm not saying it can't be improved, I'm saying you do have SOME options. If you choose not to use em yet still complain that's on you.

The issue is that new players will then have the impact of getting a voice they're satisfied with from the little preview in character creation, and then walk out to kill some mobs and cringe at hearing Sideshow Bob.

Essentially, I disagree your assessment. It's not in your own foresight to go to youtube for more on your character's voice when creating a character if you're new. For the most part, you want some consistency with what you're sampling and the rest. And a lot of voices aren't consistent. A nice, sober, quiet chuckle can translate to an obnoxiously over-the-top and loud laugh, or translate to WAAAAH!! during gameplay. When you're new, you're not going to search for more on your voice, it's just not how people normally play through the game. It's not on them. Much less are people even aware someone, a fan no less, posted them on Youtube. It's not their fault.

Also, it's confusing how we have a thread defending that it's okay not to look up a guide on youtube for content, yet here we have people saying that you should have the foresight to look up your characters' voices there.

Well...looking up a guide and looking into voices aren't the same so...why is that odd? Also who here said anyone needed the foresight to check YT? Nobody. That whole last part make no sense.

Most of the voices seem very consistent in my experience. But as with most things that's subjective.

I just make an alt first. I run around, test all the emotes and so on. I run to the MB and try on my favorite glams from there. It's even easier now that we can try on gear from the Mogstation. I've yet to regret any fantasia change because of all that. I know some things aren't on the MB or in the Mogstation but I find it's enough to get me to be able to understand how outfits fit on them.

But it would be convenient if in the character creator they would allow for more testing of the voices. As of now I go to Youtube to hear them before deciding.
