Allow us to test different races without using Fantasia

Yes lets just level a character with every voice possible for the race you want, until they can hit a mannequin somewhere, rinse and repeat for every voice that is available so over 10 of them, that sounds so much fun.

Or they could make it available in the game ? We shouldnt have to go to a youtube link to see things that should be in the game as a preview feature.

Yeah just create and alt level it to 90 , buy all the costumes/emotes/hairstyles from MB/Mog sounds very logic.

At level 1 you can try on anything on the market board, at level 9 you can try on all the mogstation items at the inn, almost all the emotes beyond your default are shared between the races so they're all going to look the same anyway, and same goes for the hairstyles.

The only thing that would be a pain are dungeon drops or tomestone items you can't get to the source of, and I agree it would be nice if there were an easier way to look up and preview those in game, but it's also not difficult to shout for a link or just Google it.

I highly doubt anyone is torn between literally every voice option for a particular race. Just pick the few you like the most, or use the youtube link which has them all in the same video.

You can preview battle voices at level 1, just walk out the front door of whatever city you start in. I've done it many times to preview a character before spending the money. It only takes a couple minutes to skip through the tutorial.

It is in the game, you can make an alt. If you don't want to make an alt you can watch the youtube videos.

But why put in the absolute bare minimum effort when you can complain instead.

The lengths some people go to be as Anti-QoL as possible. Devs want this game to last another 10 years then make this happen. Or is this game's engine just so gods awful they can't add a battle grunts button in the voice selector in the CC screen? If that's the case then here's to another 10 years of a trashy engine holding the game back.

You shouldn't have to make an alt to test something like voice that should be fully displayed in the character creation to begin with. This isn't even a fantasia issue at this point. A new person coming to the game isn't generally going to think "I should test these voices on throw away characters before I make my character". The character creation voice preview is BAD and should absolutely be improved. You shouldn't have to make a new character or look up out of game resources to test an INTEGRAL PART OF YOUR CHARACTER.

I agree the character creator could be improved. If the voice preview category were just the emote list that would be great. But I don't design video games and for all I know there's a technical reason why that isn't the case. Until the day that changes it's not difficult at all to accomplish the same thing by other means.

The average totally new player is probably level 10 or less within 24 hours. You also get a free fanta after ARR.

I see where you're coming from on the latter point but that would effectively be giving people a free fanta if they chose to abuse it by switching again at the last second. Yes you're buying the first one but not the second to change back into your original race or something else. You could make a justifiable argument that people should be able to do that anyway but that's money left on the table for SE and thus unlikely to ever happen.

I'm sorry what ? The bare minimum effort ? How about they do the bare minimum effort and actually allow people to have a decent way to preview emotes and voices ? We are paying for the service, why should we make any effort ?

As with most things in this game, we can show it's not a limitation with the game engine or anything like that because there exist third party tools that can do all this. Client side only obviously.

You can show it's not a limitation with the game by using tools that aren't part of the game and aren't supported by the developers? That's like saying this model kit I'm building should've had better paint from the factory because I can buy my own paints.

If you want to go with that analogy, it'd be more like if the model kit producers claimed they couldn't put better paint on the model because the plastic doesn't support it, but you can put better paint on without a problem.
