PLEASE.. for the love of The Twelve, give us a TACKLE BOX/BAG! PLEASE?

I love fishing, in real life and in games. The fishing in FFXIV is the best I've ever experienced. It's engaging, it requires thought and can be challenging in a fun way. I love it! What I don't love is that it consumes my entire chocobo bag (I even have the expanded saddlebags). I understand I could dedicate a retainer but it doesn't solve the problem of having to find a bell (teleport costs) just to get a bait to fly back (with more teleport costs) to the place that I wanted to fish. Honestly though, we shouldn't have to dedicate a retainer to this. It's tackle/bait... I mean, c'mon. I absolutely love the complexity of needing specific tackle/bait for a specific fish - it's realistic and immersive! BUT... being an avid fisher in the game, I shouldn't have to dedicate personal space solely to bait. There's already a level of inventory management when fishing along with moving specific baits from saddlebags to inventory to have on hand ... but having an additional saddlebag dedicated to bait/tackle only would really make fishing so much more enjoyable! Please... please give us a tacklebox/tacklebag.

100% agree. I usually dont mind managing my inventory among myself, the saddlebag and retainers but for fishing its very annoying having to carry all kinds of bait. Adding a tackle box is not only a sensible thing for the profession but it would also make fishing a lot more enjoyable and convenient

We've had this discussion over in DoL. They're not going to make a special inventory. You don't have to carry all that bait.

Get organized and clear your log by region.

If you don't want to take my word for it, find the fishing community and people will back this up.

The island is its own instance that has a special inventory. It's nothing new. They did it in Bozja and Eureka. Fishing happens all over the world. That logic doesn't apply. This inventory would have to be tied to the character and they've already maxed that out.

Let's go the hypothetical route and say they make an inventory to hold all the bait. You eventually clear the log and are left with an inventory that's big, empty and useless.

So, back to my original point: Fish by region because nothing from heavensward area is used in stormblood or any other region.

If you really don't want to deal with all the different baits and feel they were a waste of time and space, there's always the versatile lure.


Here's one of the threads I was talking about from the relevant section of the forum. Do yourself a favor and do some reading through that and other posts here and elsewhere on line. Fishing is easy to manage if you just get organized and that really isn't that hard.

There are exactly three baits that will suit for nearly all occasions. A Freshwater Boilie, a Saltwater Boilie and a Versatile Lure. They were introduced back in Shadowbringers.

These fishing lures are such an archaic system. It would be easier for them to make types of fish, and 3 different baits. For example: Bait for large, medium and small fish. Then just fit each fish on each bait.
The idea of having a separate inventory for baits is a good one, but the company is too lazy to do that, they can't even increase their inventory with each expansion.

My Chocobo Saddlebag is my tacklebox. Plus whatever miscellaneous stuff I want.

i've been asking for this for awhile hopefully we get it one day, as for my chocobo saddlebag i never use it cause half the time i forget i even have a chocobo i need to summon it more often

The saddlebag functionally has nothing to do with your chocobo; it was just a cute label to stick on an additional inventory that you can't access in dungeons. You can access it in towns though, even though your chocobo can't go there.

It is definitely helpful to have your chocobo summoned while you're out in the field, particularly if you're fighting things at your own level or doing FATEs.
