Probably, but I'd rather return to HW potencies, albeit everyone was more dot based and only BRDs/BLMs could crit dots. It's okay to have big finisher moves, but not at the potencies they're at now.
PLD is the next victim of the 2 minutes meta with the rework comming soon.
One of the only reasons the 2-buff window even exists is simply because the fights are all scripted. They last exactly X seconds, the boss uses abilities at set times, even if those abilities are sometimes ability 1, 2 or 3. But, it is all so heavily scripted. Naturally, our playstyle is scripted by this. Get to a certain part of your rotation in time to unload burst damage at the 2 min mark. SE has only encouraged this by designing the jobs around these burst windows. Couple that with the fact that the boss is always doing a certain mechanic at a certain time allows for groups to plan out all this stuff beforehand and rely on trial and error and memorization.
I'd like to see the whole thing blown up and alter when bosses do certain mechanics with more randomness. Sadly, some of the more unique mechanics might not work like that. But I'm not a game developer. I just didn't like how raiding got to a point of focusing every X seconds on one of Y mechanics that could show up. The move on to the next phase. We get to a point where we know which mechanic is coming based on our rotation (essentially time) as opposed to any other tells.
