Obscure Lore/Observations

Here's a post to mention any race based lore that isn't featured in the EE or perhaps is more implicit than explicitly mentioned. To start off, I have to contribute a small morsel in the form of the Wildwood/Duskwight's divergent appearance:-

Summary: Duskwights appear to have longer ears than Wildwood and (had) allegedly a slight luminous quality to their skin.

Another one: The Witch's Shroud

There's some 1.0 race lore that's since been brushed under the rug.

Hyur were baseline, normal humans but the other races tended to specific personality traits and moods depending their race, clan, and gender.

There were other things mentioned about the clans, such as Plainsfolk Lalafell having hair colors like green to blend into nature so that they could hide from predators. Like the Elezen, the two Lalafell clans also had different ear sizes. Keepers and Seekers had different tail and ear lengths as well iirc. This was reflected in 1.0's character creator by giving the races and clans completely different hair and skin color palettes.

You couldn't change bust size in 1.0 and it was tied to your race, clan, and face. Moon Keepers had the largest bust, for some reason. One thing that has made its way into ARR from back then is that Moon Keepers have fangs while Sun Seekers do not.

Either Rhitantyn and Grynewaht are related or Aervina is just a really common surname for Garlean roegadyns. Which I guess would make sense considering it's just latin for "fat."

You gotta wonder if it's just a result of them being assimilated into Garlean culture that caused them to drop the whole thing where their surnames come from their dads with -syn or -wyn at the end and making their surnames into more family names. They at least keep the cool Aerslanti names.

Garlean Miqo’te have the same thing. They share the surname “Potitus” which is Latin for something like “captured”.

Garleans seem to just like putting down others I guess.

It definitely seems to be a thing that people integrating into Garlean society keep their given names but drop everything else and adopt a Garlean surname.

From the Miqo'te characters in Bozja, both Llofii and Dyunbu sound like Seeker names without the tribe letter in front.

Following on from my previous post, I now have confirmation on those being Seeker names - I've been digging through Gamer Escape's list of 1.X NPCs to gather character names, and there's an I'llofii and R'dyunbu there.
