If your there to prog on levels and crystals for your relic, those boys aren't gonna prevent you from doing that. They're only interested in bunny fates
You might check into CAFE (I have no idea if that's the appropriate link or if it works..). If nothing else, they might be able to point you correctly. But, last I had checked (and it's been a while..) they were the group that frequently sets up runs for the mount, so they're full of helpful folks that can get you up to speed. Sometimes you might even get truly dedicated players that will use the de-leveling feature to drop down to low levels, so you can party up and still get expAre there any discords you would recommend for this?
If I could find people to group with at my level, who would help me grind exp, I think that would soften the blow of my first impressions and make it more likely that I'd return.
I do want the demi-ozma mount, so if there are discords that regularly farm fates or create groups for leveling, I'd be willing to give it another shot.
I tried it, it was too confusing and rewards are unclear so havent touched it since
Please do, it really gets better, especially when you are rank 18+.Are there any discords you would recommend for this?

Because at that point you could just do the weekly challenge log to skip the first few Levels in the area.
I'm on EU, so i don't know what the good NA Discords are, but I can give you some links to them.
Remember that DC travel is a thing, so you have more to choose from.

Rewards are relic weapons, armor's, a few mounts, and the content itself with mostly nice and helpful player's.
There is a nice and active Discord server for the light DC with helpful guides, other people whom you can join or ask for help and everything else you need to know for Eureka.

Although I initially disliked Eureka I ended up loving it. It showed the best side of the community where people would respect other and almost never early pull a NM. I ended up making new friends. Also ended up making tons of gil cause if ppl who hated eureka yet wanted stuff from there so I was selling at inflated prices. All in all a very nice experience that Bozja tried to replicate and failed miserably.
One of the biggest things i noticed with Eureka is the older MMO mentality.Although I initially disliked Eureka I ended up loving it. The people are always willing to help.
its not just 'efficency > other people' like the current MMO mentality.
Yep, I've always found pretty much everyone to be totally respectful of others in there.
I like the helpfulness and shout friendliness a lot, and I don't mind the de-level feature as it adds a cost for becoming too confident (I play permadeath in games that offer it), so that always makes it more exciting for me.

I quite like Eureka, it's mechanics are a nod to FFXI - pretty much any death/KO there loses XP and yes, you could de-level, which made end-game fights intense as wipe too many times and you end up too low level to actually partake in them. Plus you could only change jobs in your Moghouse (instanced house within a city/town) so if you were half-way around the world and needed to change jobs - back you went (and there was NO flying mounts, no quick teleporting - you had to hike back yourself - I believe they've added a few things in since the good old days so I don't believe it's like that now). Still, there's a good mentality around it where folks help each other out regardless when they can, they wait for others to arrive before engaging a world-boss/NM, plenty of shout-outs and chat going on. It's not for everyone but for someone who's first MMO was FFXI, it's a nice bit of nostalgic gameplay without re-subbing to 11.

I noticed you're on Jenova, so aside from doing Baldesion Arsenal (which is the capstone thing for Eureka and pretty much only organized on Discord), it's pretty shout-centric on Aether. Just give a shout asking for help and you'll find someone willing to assist pretty quick. Are there any discords you would recommend for this?

The general flow on Aether is:
1) parties of zone-capped players spawn NMs
2) once those NMs spawn, they shout a pull time (in Eorzean Time, make sure that's visible while you're in Eureka) to allow those who are doing quests, challenge logs, etc. to meet up
3) everyone murders the NM
Yes. I fail to see why having a different type of gameplay in Eureka is a bad thing. The main reason I love Eureka is that it feels and plays like an old-school MMORPG and that's also what makes it stand out from the other instances in FFXIV.I read in an online article that Eureka was designed for vets of classic MMORPGs to feel a sense of nostalgia for "the good old days." It's an homage to "preserv[ing] the essence of first generation MMOs." I'm genuinely curious as to whether the devs have given any thought since Eureka's initial launch, whether this is still a good idea. Does the modern player want to play MMOs as they operated back in the "good old days?" Do these systems make good content for the average MMO player in 2022?
