DirectX crashes/stutters

I've been having irregular crashes when playing FF14. They only seem to happen during instanced content such as dungeons, alliance raids, trials, etc. It only seems to happen every 50-100 hours or so but becomes a persistent problem when it does happen. When it crashes, it gave a list of dx11 specific errors then crashes to desktop.

The only recommendation I received was to disable dx11 but that has caused other issues as well. With dx11 disabled, I was running the dungeon 'The Burn' but when I got near the final boss, the game appeared as though it was going to crash. It ended up only freezing for about 5 seconds and the boss's character model didn't spawn at all, the entire fight it was just a cloud of mist. The stutters continued and seemed to be more prevalent when it was using particle/mist effects that normally happen with its mechanics. I've noticed in that past that it seems the crashes happen when big particle effects are happening. I'm not sure why this is as I try to run the game on standard settings at 1080p full screen and I believe my specs should be well above the minimum required.

OS: Windows 10 64 bit
GPU: GTX 1080TI
RAM: 16GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor

We're sorry to hear that you're having issues with crashing with the game. We do see that you've tried to do some troubleshooting prior to posting here on the forums.

For us to be able to properly assess the issue, could you provide the exact error message received? as well as confirm the following:
- Are you running any addition programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?
- Does this crash occur on more than one character?
- Were any update or changes made to the PC at the time of the crash?
- Does this crash occur if the game is run in full screen mode? Does it happen in borderless or windowed mode?
- Could you provide a system report? To do this you may simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.

While we wait for your reply, we'd like to suggest to try the following troubleshooting methods in order to try and resolve the issue:

- Try adjusting various graphical settings, resolutions and switching between windowed and fullscreen to see if this affects the issue.
- Update your Windows Operating System using Windows Update. (Make sure to install any optional updates as these aren't installed automatically)
- Update/reinstall your graphics card drivers (preferably a clean install)
- Disable all programs/overlays running in the background
