Crashing when trying to play the game (possible fix)

as the title says i would have my pc just crash when i would try to play the game. it had been working fine for the longest time then it just started happening one day, then when i got my 4k 144hz monitor it happened all the time. So i decided to try setting my display setting in windows setting to 1920x1080 with a 144hz refresh rate and that still had crashes but when i st it to 60hz refresh rate it worked just fine. now im not sure if i can play in 4k with 60hz refresh rate yet havent tested will try soon. So can we get a patch to fix these issues with higher refresh rate monitors and also have better support for 4k?



Edit: after testing and setting my settign to 3840x2160 (4k) @60Hz refresh rate it still crashed. so it seems to be some compatibility issue with both 4k and high refresh rate. also all drivers and what not are up to date with a freshish install of windows.

Edit 2: appears that having set my setting to high(desktop) eventually crashed but it didnt crash for like a couple hours so reverted back to high(laptop) what the game set me to originally even though i have a beefy destop pc

rtx 2060 super (soon to be 3080 ti)
32Gb ram

i have my graphics settings set to high desktop just like one of my friends who has a 1650ti does and i get crashes and he doesnt. i have a 3090 ti now and am still getting these crashes. hopefully you guys can push some patch to solve this issue

We have a thread running with ~200 replies and ~20k views on an issue with the Steam client freezing/crashing when trying to open/close, a few users have joined in with band-aid solutions (we're still awaiting a mod/employee to not only resolve it, but to acknowledge the error exists & they are trying to assist).
