His join date is irrelevant. What you're saying is, new players have no right of an opinion of their own and should not be allowed to voice it either. Implying if you just recently joined a game you cannot be a "true fan". That's gatekeeping in the worst way.If aveyond was a true fan he'd have a 2011 forum join date. You're telling me a true fan like him waited until the end of 2021 to join the forums to complain about things that needed to improve to make the game better?
He's just a new player trying to come off as a "true fan" whatever that means.

No, that's what aveyond is saying. That's literally one of his talking points.
I'm just throwing it back at him.
I don't recall him ever saying new players have no right to voice their opinion.
I'm not always of one mind with his takes either, but he still has every right to voice them.

I've never said he can't voice his opinion. He's certainly tried to silence others though.
Here it is.This is precisely what I feel has occurred with FFXIV. It is a tragic state of affairs when those of us who mean well are continuously shut down and treated dismissively by these newer "fans" who in any other case would likely not be playing Final Fantasy games at all had this game not catered to them to the extent that did.

Yeah. That's not just against players new to this game, but players new to the FF franchise. I doubt they've even played much of the other games, given how much they like to inflate their standing here.I've never said he can't voice his opinion. He's certainly tried to silence others though.

Anyone new to the franchise has no bias, so there's definitely more joy to be found in the experience. To fault them for enjoying it or dismissing opinions because of it is wrong and just shows him to be a miserable individual.

You've played Square Enix games before? These are hallmarks of the SE brand; they're also common tropes so you'll find them frequently. For WOW and FFXIV:
- An expansion that deals with cosmic threat and concludes a multi-expansion saga, has us flying in a spaceship into another planet/dimension at the end.
- An expansion before that dealing with an alternative timeline that has a bait-and-switch moment where the good guys almost won, but then Emet betrays you/Gul'dan subdues the Iron Horde and there is another mini-arc after that
- An expansion themed around Asia and focused on a war without an obvious large-scale threat(not front and center at least, both have one in the background)
- An expansion focused on dragons with a furious seething dragon as its primary antagonist(also bonus points for the similarities between shattering/7th calamity)
Is it poetry rhyming or "borrowing" concepts?
Is Gaius the Lich King?
Are we heading into FFXIV's BfA?
Hell if I know, but the parallels are fun.
Pretty much everything in XIV is based on content from previous FF titles and other SE IP's. So, I dont think these parallels are borrowing or inspired by anything in particular but just traits of the brand and common tropes in general.
WHM / BLM / SMN / NIN/ DNC / Omnicrafter and Gatherer
You know what's a good analogy for people using the "I complain because I care" excuse for heavily personally biased feedback?I could care less about hairstyles.
I played Hrothgar knowing full well there would only be limited face and only two hairstyles for each face. I get what I paid for. Anything else is extra
Also I'm not saying anyone who complains is Karen. I just don't buy " I complain because I care" s***t. There're all kinds of people in this world. Some people will complain just for the sake of it
Karens also claim they have good intentions because they CARE for you as they want only the BETTERMENT of your company and improve your company's PROFIT. Look, they even willing to spend time with your manager on discussing how they can achieve those. But we all know that isn't true
It's just someone doesn't stike me as caring type. Maybe it's just me.
Take any anime villian who does what they do because they believe what they're doing is for the betterment of the world when in reality it's only to fulfill their own selfish wants.
Thing is, it's very easy to tell when people spews this kind of feedback.

It sad what even passes for drama these days. I used to have some heated exchanges on forums. (I even became friends or remained friends with some of those people.) Now it's just these boring children with their cliches. Anyone that I could possibly have a good debate with is on my side.
