One of FFXIV's main appeals and strengths is that you can play any job on 1 character. However, the rate of acquisition of raid and tome gear, as well as the numerous different gear types for each role or job, is slow, taking many weeks to only gear up a single job. This significantly hampers the average player's ability to actually play multiple jobs without feeling as if they are stuck with one "main" job with good gear, or feeling like a burden to the party if they zone in with a lesser-geared job.

Adding a Khloe's Wondrous Tails "Second Chance Point"-like system to Savage raids could help mitigate this issue, and I hope could easily be implemented without upending major portions of FFXIV's raiding structure. The idea is as follows: By helping a party member who is new to that duty (or has simply not yet cleared the fight that weekly reset), the helping player could accumulate a point, some number of which would allow the player to earn extra Mythos pages for that turn, or to roll on additional loot in a separate table (exchanged at a trade-in NPC, or in a special chest after defeating the boss).

An example of a simple version of this system is shown here:
  • Help a party member clear a fight that week
  • Earn a point!
  • Each raid turn has its own points you can accumulate, tracked separately
  • Exchange collected points at an NPC in Radz-at-Han:
2 pts -> x1 Abyssos Mythos book from that turn

This system would work to keep fast-clearing players invested in the fights for longer, not just during their re-clears once a week. It allows for faster raid gearing for those more deeply invested in gearing multiple jobs or alt characters (while minimally impacting the World Race and fast-clearing groups), and would help fill more casual players' Party Finder groups with a steadier stream of higher-skilled players to help them clear the fights.

As it stands, the 0/1/2-Chest system, as well as the steep cap on weekly tomes relative to the price of tome gear, means players may want to try Healing or Tanking or a different job in the same role but feel restricted by their lack of gear. I hope this solution can be implemented!
