Hunting Log vs Grand Company Promotion Request

I'm a level 53 Bard Archer Corporal in Twin Adders. I've maxed out my hunting log's "Ranks" by completing all 5 listed. Yet the Twin Adders personnel OIC keeps telling me to complete Rank 1 before I can be promoted. I have over 6500 [edit: grand company currency, not gil, as previously stated] of 6000 required for the promotion.

I haven't learned any crafts or professions, nor done any PvP, nor joined any free companies, but the personnel officer doesn't cite anything but the Hunting Log Rank requirement. What am I missing? Apparently, I can't get promoted until this is resolved.

When you say you completed your hunting log, did you check the other tabs? There is a tab for normal classes, but there is a tab for your grand company which looks like the banner of your Grand Company.

Here is the GC-specific hunt tab that Jeeqbit's talking about. Note that it only has three ranks to complete. Your icon will be the Serpent standard rather than the Storm standard.

That's it, thanks to both of you! It looks like I'll be doing a lot of back-tracking to complete it through Rank 3, but at least I'll be getting promoted soon. Thanks again.

Note the GC promotion only requires the second rank of the GC Hunting Log to be completed, not all 3, but yeah, that is a common issue that catches a lot of new players out (also several of the enemies for the GC Hunting Log incidentally are only found in certain ARR dungeons, so you'll need to enter those dungeons through Duty Finder or Duty Support to get them).

Yep, I ran into the dungeon requirement, which requires forming a party with other players, oh noes! I got separated and lost, of course, but managed to knock down one of the hunting log's beast categories toward Rank 1. I hope to keep up better next time. I'd still rather go in with an NPC party, so no waiting for party formation and no need to communicate. But this first party of humans was chill, competent, formed in ten minutes, and the experience was painless, other than my brief loss of dignity.
