    I have known a lot of hardcore raiders in my day, people that LIVE in Azeroth.

    All of them, at one time or another, has wasted hours trick jumping to pose on streetlamps, archways, statues- JUST to impress lowbies and guildies.
    1. Jumping in combat isn't cowardly, it is a skill.
    2. Jumping is the quickest way to emote joy in a primal way.
    3. The more freedom given to the player, the better.

    Limitation where freedom of movement is concerned is a buzzkill for any game, IMO. I'm not trying to say that jumping has a direct correlation to the success of a community, but there IS a connection!

    If there is going to be a "Jump" button in combat... then when the weapon is out it should be a dash forward (or multi-directional based on direction input). It would speed up combat, make it feel better/looking cooler, and can be applicable to encounter design better than hopping like a doofus in battle to dodge projectile "waves" and whatnot.

    Do you mean like? You take out your weapon, run toward the monster and start the battel with something like a "Jump-Slash"? (it would act as a nomal auto-attack, but just look cool starting the battle?)

    Jumping should never effect combat. It should be used as a way to make exploring terrain easier. Damage on fall should be in moderation. We don't know what 2.0 landscapes will be. Unless SE starts planning on flying mounts, we will have barriers on cliffs and other out of reach areas.

    I think if your going to jump in battle, It should only be for looking cool when fighting and dose nothing elss (no evading attacks, no jumping to a platflorm, no extra damage, ect.) to add a style in fighting, but does nothing elss.

    Kinda like this, your auto-attacking, you jump but your auto-attack does this cool upper slash animation.
    Fare for both parties I think, both who do and dont want jumping in combat.
    Also I highly support jumping being used to exploring. I dont see the harm in it. (They did say they will make the maps so you cant fall and die for it would be too unrealistic for the new graphics.)

    Would be for the current graphics too.

    Anyway, jumping to get to platforms in battle would certainly be an interesting element.

    Ground AoEs that pulse and must be jumped over would be pretty cool.. would be annoying but a use for jump none the less
