    I'd like it for an aesthetic, and for the ability to jump over or onto small obstacles such as fences or small parts of terrain that are...well, short. I can't count the number of times I've been stuck or had to 'go around' an extremely low fence or ledge in the landscape that was shorter than my character. (A lalafell at that)

    I would not prefer to see it used as a combat mechanic.

    I hope it would be a fluid animation, and just a simple jump. No fancy flipping or what not. Like a jump where the character pushes of the ground, does their animation in air, and then lands on the ground, perhaps with some kind of bracing or what not. Much like how when we stop moving, we actually see the character have to stop their momentum. I like these small aesthetics.

    I miss that animation's glory days. They went and screwed it up by keeping it in after adding instant stopping! Crafting and the switch between active and passive also had the life sucked out of them. *Sigh*

    I feel your pain too, I wish animation's glory days are brought back in 2.0.
    Now, it looks like I'm on speed drugs all the time when crafting, gathering, going in active mode... *sigh*

    I dont want Jump as part of Combat, but I wouldnt mind it as part of the "Event", you fight a boss on ground floor, and then when it goes into its "Second Phase" it rises up, and you have to "Jump" up the building across rocks, ledges or what have you to get to him again, so its not combat related to the mob but environment event related, i think be kind of cool.

    I dont think falling damage is needed because you shouldnt be able to jump off high enough places that we cant already fall off now. I dont want people jumping down cliffs, even if they die lol.

    Environment exploration is great idea!

    Just look at games like WOW, Rift, LOTRO etc. Towns that are popular are filled with retards jumping about on their oh-so-kewl mounts like demented 5-year-olds on beany-bags.
    I played WoW for a couple years and I honestly never saw this. There was the occasional silly person, but it was far from a regular occurance. I'm really sick of people using "oh, people will bounce up and down and ruin my immersion!" as an argument against jumping. Anyway, Jumping is in, that's the final word. The issue in this threads is what to do with it, not whether or not jump should be implemented. That train has left the station and it's not coming back.

    I've been reading the the Thread thought since Okipuit ask us about Jumping in the game.

    First I'll just say I like the idea of Jumping haveing a purpose. Also not "Largely Forced.
    I take a optimistic view on alot of things in games, for me haveing expectations in games could sometimes ruin moments that could turn out to be fun. Whether or not Jumping will have a Hugh purpose or no purpose at all dose not bother me.

    I've been reading what many of you have been saying about jumping. This is what I found so far. (Sorry if I forgot/missed an idea for jumping)

    -Used in "Environment" while Exploring. (I like that idea, makes exploring fun.)

    -I see alot of people Do Not! want it used in "Battle". (Me personaly would like to see if it was, will it do anying? if so what? otherwise you can jump during battle but it dose nothing)

    -In Environment if you jump of a cliff or somewhere high up you will take "Falling Damage". (kinda like Xenoblade Chronicles?)

    -To get from one floor to the next. Example: Like your on a bridge in The Black Shrouds and theres a level below you, to get there you may need to take a long route, but can just jump down the bridge, insted of takeing the long way.

    -Used in Obstacles/Puzzles. (I think this is a great idea personally, as many Final Fantasy games had Puzzles to solve. Like in FFIX.)

    -Can be used to "Cancel Cast".

    -Used in "Boss Battles". (I think they could use something in a fight with Titan to evade some weak earthquakes, but is not forced in the whole battle, mabye but I dont mind anyway if they did . )

    -Has a Cooldown for many reasons. (I hope they dont, mabye for PVP)

    -Used in Exploring for Treasure Hunting.

    -I remember reading "YoshiP" wanted a "Gold saucer" Like place for Mini-games. So mabye jumping can have a bigger purpose there. (can't remember if someone said this already or not?)

    -If your Armor Damage is bad your jumping will get weaker in some fashion.

    -To let Jumping allow you to change direction in mid-air.

    -To allow monsters to Jump after you. (Cool )

    -Jumping done in tastful-manner.

    [Edit] (New ones)
    -Jobs could have a unique use for jump.

    -The possibility of jumping bening in "Achievements" in some matter.

    -When in PVP have a system where jumping is not Abused.

    If there is anything I missed or should add, let me know. I try to be neutral in these matters.

    While it would be interesting to see the Z-Axis added to battle mechanics (so that you would be capable of delivering attacks from the front, side, read, AND above (from below!?) I'm a bit concerned about latency issues when using them.

    If the server tracking of user position in real-time maintained a reputation for latency, then, combined with animation lag between skills in general, trying to use the mechanic could often lead to frustrating (or deadly) mistakes.

    Ideally, I'd be happy with jump purely as a combination aesthetic / traversing feature; anything to eliminate that "OH, NO; A TWO FOOT LEDGE?! I BETTER GO AROUND." world we live in today.

    Jumping to traverse terrain or hit steps suspended away from eachother (maybe in the crystal tower?) to reach a higher level would be cool. I like the idea of it being part of a dungeon or a small type of obstacle to cross.

    Keep it realistic and not 10 feet in the air or something crazy, and the animation smooth.

    Please please please don't let it be in combat. When I say this I mean, don't let it be that people are jumping over the monster over and over to get behind it and jumping all around it to spin it etc....If though it is added tastefully to avoid a special attack here and there I think thats ok. Especially a signature move for a boss or something.

    I would love climbing a tower (like Delkfutt's tower from XI), but jumping up platforms to reach the next level, (rather than the elevator lol). Would be interesting for a change. Even better if we could look all the way down to the bottom from the top.
    If there was a risk of falling it'd be even more exciting. But hopefully not so much risk that you had to wait on people all the time to climb back up. Suddenly I miss Parradamo Tor... lol
