What's wrong with Limestone nodes on Island Sanctuary?

Are the only avaiable at specific times of day, or in certain weather?
The guides I looked at said they are in and around the Northward Stream.
I started at the mouth and hit every single node all the way to the other end, then turned around and went back, again hitting every single node.
After several trips like this I finally gave up. I have 106 Island Stone, and 81 Island Sand, but not one single Limestone.
I'm unable to progress any further without the Limestone.
Is anyone able to help with these missing Limestone nodes?

Do you have tools needed to gather them?

You have to craft Stone Hammer at rank 3 ( 3x Stone, 2x Log, 4x Vine). It unlocks Copper Ore / Limestone / Rock Salt.

I have the right tool now, and am finding the previously missing Limestone.
Thanks also for answering kindly and not making me feel more foolish, than I do now, for not realizing it was a missing tool.

It can be an easy mistake to make if you aren't already checking what you can build after you level. I don't remember getting any actual notifications that stuff was available.

Nothing specific but when you craft a new tool, it says "New items are available from X type of node". But if you haven't crafted the tool yet, then you wouldn't get anything.

Yeah that was the point. There's nothing to tell you to build the new tool. I just happened to have already been checking the build list after each level or I would have never known.

If I remember correctly, you do get some text in chat that tells you what unlocked when your island ranks up.

Do remember that there are several other tools you unlock later as well. In general, if you hit a gathering node, and you only get a single item from it, then you are missing a tool for it.

I think it is mostly just "a new recipe is now available" or something along those lines, but nothing specific.
