FF Elements in FFXIV - Lunar Cry "SPOILERS"

In a recent interview Yoshida said they would be adding elements from other Final Fantasy games. In one of the new quests Gaius says something about Dalamud that reminded me of Lunar Cry from FF8. Below is how Gaius described Dalamud

"Gaius Van Baelsar: But Dalamud is no mere rock, despite what van Darnus would have us believe.
Gaius Van Baelsar: It is a great red sin, exiled to the skies by ancient Allag. There it has long festered, becoming something far more vile than we ever supposed."

Just Speculations but im thinking this is how they plan to introduce new monsters in 2.0, these monsters are the sin that were exiled long ago and they grew like crazy over time.
