Bring back kaiten and remove auto crits.![]()
Kaiten can not come back (at last, how it was). It was only a boost skill. You have the auto crit/direct as a exchange for kaiten and can use one skill less. That is a good exchange. Esspecial when you have obtained other skills in EW, that you have to use.
I dont play Sam much (he looks to slow and looks like to have only a short range), but i have nearly no free skill slots open. And have enough to do, when i play him (have to manage 3 combos, position, and some of the Extra attacks, he is allready harder as the dragoon and monk).
I disagree with it being a fair trade. Good damage does not equal good gameplay. Samurai has not played the same since the kaiten removal. I tried the changes on 6.1 launch, hated it so much and asked myself "who wanted this" and took a long break. I came back and still hated the changes even when I tried to return with an open mindKaiten can not come back (at last, how it was). It was only a boost skill. They said they removed Kaiten due to it being a restrictive skill to design around so they should have introduced a new skill to replace it (which they would not do until 7.0 anyway so why the hell remove a skill in patch 6.1)
I do agree that the job's difficulty can be the amount of buttons it gives you at level 90, but this problem was made worse by the developers themselves introducing button bloat in endwalker with namikiri and shoha 2 being separate buttons.
I think they could have been consolidated into Ikishoten and making Shoha 1 single target with aoe falloff. I also would have been open to making Iaijutsu and Tsubame Gaeshi the same buttons, since you can't even use a GCD before using Tsubame Gaeshi or you'll have to rebuild that Iaijutsu again. Them making it a separate button as if it had some flexibility to be used is not the case

I fail to see the goodness in the exchange we got. To the casual player, every number they could have seen went down. If folks weren't constantly talking about the thing no one is supposed to use, we wouldn't even know we were still doing good damage. Every single meaty hit we had was lowered to the point of being near equal to our normal Sen generators. Also, our casted cone became a casted circle. What exactly is fair or fun about pretending to be a tank in dungeons by standing smack dab in the middle of enemy mobs just to sneeze on them?Kaiten can not come back (at last, how it was). And not to mention, the jank emptiness between any gcd and an iaijutsu cast is just... gross. I never had to sit and wait for that when kaiten was around. Shinten isn't a buffer to roll between GCDs. It's a stuttery mess that doesn't jive with the flow as it just helps to show how broken it is. Stabbing between combos, sure. Stabbing before iai, no.
"The way of the samurai.. is not necessary anymore."
Turning us into shinten spammers was not a good change. Screw auto crits, give me my kaiten back. I'll take the damage variances any day over this boring garbage.
Auto crit = more dmg because of a specific crit hit. Without the need of using a extra skill. I dont see, where the drawback of that is?
50% more dmg or to be sure, to make a crit, is the same.
At last, how i understand it. And, you dont need to use kenki for it. And can use it for other things.
All auto crit did was make dps consistent, but it overall did less damage than the max dps prior to 6.1. Either way, I never cared about the dps variances because hitting a 100k crit/dh was fun. Auto crits that do 25k damage every single time is incredibly boring. The entire appeal of samurai was building up to kaiten and doing a massive hit. That appeal is completely gone.Auto crit = more dmg because of a specific crit hit. Without the need of using a extra skill. I dont see, where the drawback of that is?

What other things for kenki? We literally just spam shinten now and occasionally use gyoten in the rotation to expend excess kenki. There's nothing else to use it on. Kenki right now is a useless resource that's serves no real purpose. There is zero requirement to manage your kenki anymore.

They should have either entirely removed kenki or not removed kaiten and seigan. This is exactly the issue warrior has with the fell cleave gaug- sorry beast gauge, where upheaval and onslaught are no longer on it taking it from pretty simple to "why bother".
Well by that logic, let's make everything play like healer and only press 1 button for our whole rotation. It'll make our damage guaranteed to be good. No need for all these extra fluff buttons melee call combos. No need for any of it. Right? Right?!Auto crit = more dmg because of a specific crit hit. Without the need of using a extra skill. Thats the 7.0 classes
