    Beggars in the Party Finder

This is the first time I've made my own forum discussion, so bear with me here.

Ever since I've transferred to Primal Excalibur, I've seen nothing but beggars in the "Other" section of the party finder, asking and begging for Mogstation items as if their life depended on it. "Cutie lalafell" wanting this, "Cute catgirl" wanting that, it's everywhere. I've even been approached in-game by one of these people and /tell'd for real-money items.

I've only found out a few days ago that these people are phishing scammers. What are they doing? They trick you out of your generosity to get items and resell the Mogstation codes. Despite me only finding out a few days ago, thankfully, I've never given any of these people items. I'm sure if you try to start a conversation with these people they'll try to sugarcoat anything possible in order to squeeze every last drop of generosity out of you.

I have major concerns because of this behavior on the party finder. My first concern is that, why isn't the development team doing anything? These people are tricking others out of their generosity in order to make a quick buck (And by quick, I mean maybe, a long time? These partyfinders don't budge at all until they get what they want). If I remember correctly, didn't they make new rules and everything for the party finder so that way people can't sell things like clears, gil, and gear? Which, by the way, didn't even work, I'm literally looking at the party finder with somebody selling things as I type this, it's been up for days, the persons Discord tag is even in it, it's like they're begging for a punishment.

My second concern is that, a lot of these reasons that the scammers give in the party finder sound real and legitimate, i.e., it'd probably be easy to trick someone into having them give something to someone, I'm sure these scammers tricks have worked before, that's only why they're still up, if they didn't work, this post would have never been made.

I'd like to see the development team do something about this in the future, like a lodestone post talking about how you should be weary for party finder scammers like this, or something. I think the best thing they could do is implement a new feature where you could right-click a party finder and easily report it for being a scam, like how you can do that in the in-game chat.

What do you guys think? Have you seen it happen in other Datacenters too? (These things happening in the party finder are still new to me, I've only ever seen it happen in Primal, atleast to my memory.)

In a more general way, you don't want to offer anything to an unknown person, especially people who just beg for it. I've an advice for those people : EARN IT.

Other than that, There is one point where I join you, but i'll go even further. When you have something to report with the right click, today, we only have "RMT", which is kinda meh... We should have more button on this in order to report more things like : Cheaters/Speedhacker (Especially for PvP) and Scam for exemple. I'm pretty sure people will find other thing to add into that list, but that would avoid unnecessary long report when you can just report that one guy for scam (Which is pretty much the same type as those RMT) and cheaters (which can be easily verified with all the GM's tool they have) with just one click.

I find it really sad that there would actually be people who would buy mogstation items for complete strangers. Do they see this as a way to get attention or try to make friends? Never mind the scam element, I think it is bad enough that people would abuse Party Finder as well as other players in this way.

It's nuisance behavior and solicitation, which is against policy and reportable.

I've notice RMT is back to selling gil and clears in PF too. I guess they've gotten brave and can see Square isn't going to do much to them right away.

Once in a while there is a weirdo on Light begging for something, or a lonely catboy looking for a daddy
Its very rare so its easy to ignore them and good for a laugh

Yeah it is, but there will always be someone hungry enough in Limsa to think that a gift will get them their very own cat-grillfriend.

Noticed this too. Guess you can do whatever you want at this point really. SE is going to do anything.

At least the beggars don't really impact gameplay much. You can kind of just ignore them.

Maybe SE should make it so you need to select the player/character that gets the mog station item as a gift instead of just giving a code that anyone can redeem. Then they can't resell the items.

Happens in every NA DC, can't speak further than that.

As far as people buying others things, if they want to then let them. My viewpoint is, it's their money and they're choosing to let it go to a random person without doing further investigation. Let them make their life choices and get scammed and learn from their mistake while the rest of us carry on as normal.
