I actually remember this. On my old trial account that I lost before I eventually made this one and at a couple spots around level 40ish range and around level 48-50ish range, I remember grinding roulettes for experience because I didn't get enough experience through the MSQ itself.

I didn't encounter this when I came back and played through my current character though, but it always made me wonder what the intentions were.

For me with the jump from 47 to 49 I always took it as the game expecting you to do a bunch of FATEs around Northern Thanalan, which would be interpreted as thinning down the frontlines so you can invade the Castrum.
