Are you talking about "hateful sorts" who stalk people from thread to thread looking for any excuse to post attacks on them? I.e., people like awesomeJr and SentioftheHoukai? Apparently not.
But no surprise. After all, surveys indicate that some people believe the US border is more secure than ever, and that inflation was at 0% in August, like the WH says. I don't doubt that some posters here are among those people. The human capacity for doublethink is as bad as Orwell portrayed it to be ... too bad so few people read 1984 (or Animal Farm) anymore.
On topic: thank you, devs, for the Summer Sunset Sandals. They aren't exactly what I want for my fem Vieras, but they are very nice and a step in the right direction. And they didn't cost extra!
Who decides what "cannot be defended" ?
A what, exactly, have I defended that falls into that category? Thanking the devs?
Not holding my breath for an answer, though.
And it's pathetic that Stormpeaks promotes attacking people, rather than refuting their arguments, on online forums.
Sign of the times.

Disregarding that not every piece of knowledge needs to be consolidated into a tome for people to understand a concept and form their own opinion on it... you do know Orwellian situations are grossly misinterpreted even by people who have read 1984, right?
That it really depends on how you view it and life and what you perceive the other side to be? It's all about self-reflection, which reading the book is no guarantee you're capable of. When it came out, you had three camps. People who saw it as a criticism of communism, people who saw it as a criticism of capitalism and people who saw it as a criticism of any extreme faction that turns to authoritarian measures. None but the author could explain for certain, and he was long dead at the time, so so much for that. And even analysing his life doesn't exactly help, because by all standards, he was upset at both socialism and capitalism. So you could just whip out whatever moral you wanted from it. Which, ironically, it too was Orwellian in a way, because it would go on to justify people's own morals rather than promote self-reflection for one's actions.
TLDR: Reading philosophy doesn't make you a guru in any way. People can be smart, use common sense and be perfectly rational and intelligent without having to prove it by being pretentious enough to read classics. And even those who do read them can easily twist the narrative and the point of the book to suit their opinions. It's not necessarily a good indicator.

You must own a hay field somewhere, to be so quick and prolific with your strawman arguments.
You're "disregarding" something only you said, even as you say it, duckspeaker.
And are you next going to give me a newsflash about how some people call anyone they disagree with a Nazi?
Besides, isn't it most likely that people misinterpreting "Orwellian" situations haven't actually read Orwell's work? E.g.: I was at a writer's conference, and in a large room packed with real and wanna-be authors, when asked to raise their hands if they'd read 1984, exactly one of those authors did so.
And even with that, do most of the few people who read 1984 also read "The Principles of Newspeak", the appendix? If not, they missed the best, most informative, part of Orwell's work.
Did you read the appendix? Can you distinguish between even double-plus good and double-plus ungood duckspeakers? (I'll wait while you search the Internet for a way to pretend you can, if you need that.)
Wow, who hurt YOU Silverbane? I'm literally just telling you "Okay, keep in mind people can be smart without needing to read." WHO ARE YOU TO INSULT ME?? The actual hell did I do to you??
Yeah no, you just proved to everyone here you're as vile as you seem. I didn't do jack and you're already throwing insults? You are not worth my time whatsoever.
What strawman? I'm telling you flat-out: "You don't need to do read stuff to actually be smart and understand things". Simple as.
No? I'm just saying that you can read a book but it doesn't make you smart. I don't give a darn if you're a nazi or not, nor if you agree or disagree.
Just like having the ability to speak does not make you intelligent.
You know. Just like you have so poisonously proven!
Wait all you want, I really don't care about you nor anything you have to say anymore. You're awful.
And I don't care if they read X or Y. As I said, which you clearly didn't give two flying dodos to look at because you instantly got insulted over me bringing your attention to your own dumb high horse, YOU DON'T NEED TO READ ANYTHING TO UNDERSTAND STUFF.
Wow, talk about an over-reaction.
As ameliaw likes to say (and no one attacks them for saying),"take you meds, buddy."
I predicted you two specifically, out of literally everyone, would respond to that GIF with eerily similar responses to what you did. >_>
Am I a prophet from lord Zodiark, out here predicting the future?
Nah, he stole the hay from yours
It's an older woman thing. My grandmother is the same way. They think that because books were the major source of information in their time, that you MUST read books to get information these days. Of course that's no longer true as the internet offers far more information than a book every could, and is far easier to access, but they're from a different time. Although, at least when my grandmother tells me that she's at least trying to be helpful even though she's wrong. Silverbane's just trying desperately flailing around screaming things like "nazi" and "1984" in an attempt to get people to side with her. After all, siding with an unhinged person is better than siding with a nazi right?
Absolutely nothing. For all her talk about 'haters', she's a hateful person herself.
Remember this:
Yeah, she just proved that statement to be 100% true.
THAT WAS THE ONE GUY WHO WAS ON YOUR SIDE AND YOU STILL ARE MAD AT HIM LOL (EDIT: I read an 'it' between 'ignore' and 'Silver'. This way my bad. Happens to everyone and I'll admit that it happened to me this time)
Agreed. I'd honestly rather have the forums be a place where we can praise the devs when they deserve it, and be critical when its deserved. That's always been my position on this topic. People who praise the game aren't white knights. People who are critical aren't haters. White knights are people who go around shutting down criticism, and haters are people who complain with the intention of having the game self implode. I genuinely don't think we have too many actual haters on the forums if I have to be honest. The vast majority of the people I've encountered that are critical of the game give their feedback out of a desire that the game would improve. However, I do believe the forums do have a serious problem with white knights who pretend that forums meant for feedback are meant to be social media platforms for them to have a positive echo chamber in.
