The Devs need a much needed thanks!

It's crazy that we've gotten to a point where most praise will get you labeled as a shill/white knight. Folks will rag on you cause "dumb person thanks the big corpo that doesn't care about you" and it's just...sad really. Not everyone is thanking the devs as some devious shot at the folks complaining. Some people GENUINELY are thankful and thats ok. If folks can talk about how the devs suck n need to lose thier jobs then I think it's more than ok for people to thank the devs when they feel the devs deserve it. Shooting those people down and labeling based on what you THINK their goal is (despite not doing or saying anything wrong) is bogus. Period.

This section of the community is off asf.

SE could do better in many aspects, and if/when they do, they will earn the praise. At that point users might see a more positive change in atmosphere here.

It's pathetic how many people in this thread seem to think that someone being paid to do a job means they do that job well. Those people must have very little life experience, or they'd know better.

I paid a subscription for years to experience SWTOR going from a game with eight great story lines that was fun to play to a game with one boring story line that was frustrating because of the unfixed game-stopping bugs, dev flip-flops, and cash-shop shenanigans.
The developers that did that to SWTOR were paid.
I have never and will never thank them for their efforts.

The developers that bring us FFXIV, however, I will thank.
They keep providing a game I enjoy playing, and they keep improving that game.
People like me with extensive complex software implementation experience in a team environment know that that's a hard-won accomplishment.
We know from personal experience that even software developers being paid six-figure US$ salaries often suck, and that even one bad coder can ruin an entire team's efforts.
The FFXIV devs have, in the main, overcome that and many other obstacles to bring me this game, and in terms of money spent per hour of enjoyment, it's the most cost-effective entertainment I've ever bought.

So thank you, Creative Business Unit 3.
Please ignore all the insults that the haters in the EN forums heap on you.
You provide something that brings joy to and is well-loved by a great many people.
Only a relatively small number of people can claim to have done that,
and I doubt that many, if any, of your detractors are among them.

Yes, but this isn't what's going on in this thread. The thread was clearly, deliberately created as an opposition to the controversies of this week and we had many posters who were more concerned with "the haters" than actually thanking the devs. And it happens each time. Mismanagement caused Endwalker to be delayed two weeks at the very last second? Why yes, it's the best time to congratulate the devs for a jobs well done!

And I thought you all hated non-constructive criticism? This thread is anything but constructive, it's basically empty virtue signaling who only really help OP and the other feel better about themselves.

Because EW delay was one other time I remember when we had a wave of "thank you SE" posts just after a major controversy.

My point is you don't KNOW what a person's intention is when posting. People just see what they don't like and throw labels based on that. Does the concept of being genuine just not exist here? If the devs aren't worthy of any praise then why are folks still giving them money? Seems dumb to do that if this is truly the case.

Also I've seen PLENTY of complaint threads that aren't constructive at all and are just shouting n ranting. And when people call that out those folks are accused of being shills/white knights or called critism police. Come on man..it doesn't really matter if you're constructive or not here. Let's not be naive about this. I think it's silly to make a big public show of thanking the devs after one of the most disasterous raid tier launches since Heavensward.

Since those players pay the same subscription you do, don't you think it's appropriate that they thank the developers if they like the parts of the game they do give a rat's ass about? After all, you've made it clear that paying your subscription doesn't indicate that you are happy with the devs' efforts.

These forum threads don't exist in a vacuum. Most of the faces in here are familiar to anyone who spends time here, and it's not that hard to figure out their game based on their pattern of behavior everywhere else on these boards. Some of these users go around constantly instigating moralistic arguments, or making weird excuses for the devs, in every single thread that appears even vaguely critical of any aspect of the game.
