Here we go again.
Here we go again.
I didn't expect the friendship angle coming from a voidsent either, but she is the one who brought friend talk on the table not I. I only state what facts we have regarding the direction they can take her character.Have you never met a female demoness type character in video games. Succubi, and other sort of temptress like ones? Demons often have more to them besides the violence they're associated with, though I suppose instead FFXIV opted to make them quirky like SMT or Persona ones.
Having a character who can both look and act that sort of part would be quite refreshing, especially since Y'shtola in no way fills such a role despite the reputation she gained after the "little sun" stunt from Stormblood. She's way too bland to be treating men like that.
"Beginning of her arc" far be it from me to expect the start of a story to be bit more gripping, the friendship angle is just not what I expect to have fed to me especially so bluntly. That's some care bears or kingdom hearts type of storytelling, there has to be more going on.
And since wanting to know what is a friend is the first thing she ask us and get mention again near the end of the patch, i think that will be comprised in her narrative arc.
There's succubus in FFXIV, but Zero doesn't seem to be inspired by such character trait. The plot goes more in a direction of "former human" than full on demon with Zero as of now.
I do believe that there is more to her than just being violent and wanting to feed on aether, but aside from the friendship talk we had with her, we don't have much to go on to guess what she will be like.
Let me put it into perspective. Someone who is conventionally attractive and has a high degree of charisma/interesting attitude, like these characters:
Can get away with that sort of behavior. This character:
Cannot.

A seductive demoness would've been a lot more unique in the context of FFXIV instead of another stoic sort of woman, as if the immortal Y'shtola wasn't enough.

Clearly you and I have very different ideas of what is and is not attractive.
And how the heck do you think yotsuyu has charisma.....
She rules through fear and punishment, not charisma...
Yotsuyu was amazing.
And how dare you speak to my Goddess Bayonetta in that way. lol
She's (Yotsuyu) a good character, but I'd agree that she's not exactly charismatic. She's a psychopath who ruled through terror.
And yeah, I think that this is largely gonna come down to tastes. Either way, Zero as we know her makes much more sense as someone from the void who'd actually want to team up with us than a Bayonetta esque character. Anyone who could have the force of personality that Bayonetta does likely would be on the higher end of the foodchain in the void than the lower end, and as such they'd be more likely to try to eat us for dominance than work with us. Because that's how the void works.

Zero like the name given has no personality and amounts to "Dormammu I have come to bargain".
Voidsent feel rather cheapened when all it took was a blue rock to turn a demon thing into a magical girl.
That didn't bothered me, macguffin is doing macguffin things.
What bothered me is that we get said object right before going to the void, where we use it on the only human voidsent, said voidsent being the only one able to use memoriate power.
And that voidsent is in the first location we arrived in, it's also Zenos voidsent that you already met.
These coincidences are really convenient ! We sure are lucky everything happened that way.
Yotusyu had good on screen presence. Hence why I cited her interesting personality along with her looks that give her behavior a pass. She's (Yotsuyu) a good character, but I'd agree that she's not exactly charismatic. She's a psychopath who ruled through terror.

As for the rest, I'm not interested in arguments that amount to little more than pointing where the rules said no. Nothing is stopping us from making deals with Bayonetta-like Voidsent.

It's called shit writing. But that's kinda been a problem the whole expansion. That didn't bothered me, macguffin is doing macguffin things.
