Because their are so many universal mechanics of fights in FFXIV I believe it would be a fun game for players to make their own custom fights for other players to compete in at the gold saucer. This would only be for gold saucer coins and not for gear, so there wouldn't need to be a requirement to get the best gear or anything. It's just for fun. here's a general list of ideas about it:
- You can decide if the fight will be like a wall boss, stationary in the center, or be able to be moved around.
- You can determine the shape of the arena. Square and circle obviously but unique shapes like a triangle or rhomboid could be interesting.
- Boss health automatically scales to party size and participants are scaled too. (4man, 8, and 24)
- There would be a limit on how many mechanics could be used at once but combining them in unique ways provides the challenge
- Players can leave a like if they enjoyed the encounter, and the most highly upvoted encounters of the week could show up in the rotating events at the gold saucer for the public that week. (what actually gives the most coins)
- Giant Mammets, training posts, and mechanical creations by Godbert Manderville could be chosen to be the boss model and give out specific callouts based on the mechanics chosen.
- People can get coins if a party wipes to your encounter or if players leave a positive review.
Obviously the point of this is not to create ultima level difficult fights but a more casual mode with endless fights to have. Since it would only use mechanics that all encounters use, it wouldn't take away from unique mechanics in the regular content. The narrative could be that Godbert has been getting exceeding requests for some kind of arena where people can watch the WoL and other adventures fight monsters, but he doesn't want people (or innocent monsters) to get killed at the saucer so he created this to achieve all those goals. He lets the WoL design the fights because who better to replicate adventurer combat than one of the greatest combatants of all time?
What do you think? Is this something you would like to participate in, and what would you add to it? Anything that would concern you about this mode? Please give me all your feedback.
