The large majority of people who play the game don't go near the forums.Or maybe, most people are unhappy.
The forums are a privilege, because you have to be subbed to the game to use it. This isn't a "Most people on the forums don't play the game" situation. EVERY person on the forums HAS to play to a degree, or you cannot post.
(Even though I don't play it that much......due to not being satisfied with any of the jobs)
To your point, how many actually got to EW? Not me.......So maybe I have no business posting about EW LOL, but as for the jobs as a guy who owns EW? I think they all suck, except maybe 1 or 2 are playable to me....Just me personally.

Requiring a subscription to use the forums doesn't mean the vast majority -will- use it.Or maybe, most people are unhappy.

Based on the last unofficial census, the game is closing in on around 1mil active characters being played. If even 10% of them used the forums, threads would be getting created, posted in, etc constantly, rather than the relatively slow pace one can observe daily. You would also see a far more variety of faces commenting, rather than the exact same set of 4-10 negative nancies & 5-10 usual people arguing against them I see every day in the general discussion.
The simple reality is that by far and large, people who are content with the game will not mention it unless directly asked. After all, simply stating you love something about the game isn't conductive to discussion, whereas people criticisms and annoyances easily fuel discussion. People who are satisfied will be less inclined to go out to the forums and voice their opinion than someone who wants to see change within the game. Without an 'official' survey, nothing can be accurately said about whose a majority and whose a minority. Only Square knows, because they have literal petabytes of statistics that show the actual truths here.
After all, take a job like DRK, who was extremely controversial in SHB due to its extreme dumbing down of its kit and if you looked at the forums in isolation during that time, you would believe was a job no one liked and ultra despised. Yet there was a redditor created job satisfaction poll during 5.25, or a little under halfway through the expansion, where DRK scored a 3.92/5, or a little under 80% of DRK players / the majority of the players were satisfied with the job. https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...urvey_results/
Now of course, this is a limited sample size, but it does give a good insight into the reality that anyone who thinks their opinion speaks for the majority or that the forums is any indication of player satisfaction/dissatisfaction needs to get a reality check.
The only truth one can gleam from the forums is that people have opinions, both positive and negative. But who is majority and who is minority is only for Square Enix to know, and they'll continue using those statistics to steer the game design in favor of the majority who pays their bills.

I feel the original person you were responding to likely has it right. While only subbed players can post on the forums, that doesn't mean the forum represents anything near a representation of subbed players. Even during the late-patch "troughs" in EW, we're still seeing several hundred thousand active players. How many make it here to the forums? In comparison - practically none. And it's also true practically anywhere and everywhere that people who are "unhappy" about something are more likely to speak up about it, whereas people who are content or pleased with something tend to just continue enjoying that something.Or maybe, most people are unhappy.

Me, personally? My three main classes are PLD for tank, SCH for healer, and RDM for dps, and I love how all three play at the moment.

SCH is only happy if you only started SCH in ShB or later, otherwise it’s still a modern healer that got gutted from the single best job the game has probably ever had
I’d give the “probably most satisfied with their job” to MNK mains
I actually hear a lot of MNK mains complain it's way too simple now and they miss the positional. Very similar to SMN, they feel like they made the job too accessible and brain dead

*Raises hand* Started SCH in SB. Enjoyed it then. Love it nowPerhaps refrain from speaking in absolutes?

I think people are pretty happy with SGE, even if it could use a little bit of a damage bump.

Not realy. Sage receives such little features for an EW released class. It feels like a complete waste. From lvl 76 to 90 SGE feels exactly the same. And the reason for lvl 76 is because there you at least get some extra healing tools that can alter your rotation.
While SCH also doesnt get a lot, Protraction can at least still be used in the rotation for healing to save some casts somewhere else and optimize the healing potential.
And yes, SGE gets a dps ability at lvl 90... yet healers still hit as a wet noodle to begin with. And for a DPS oriented healer... 330 potency is a joke. WHM gets one of over 1000+ potency at lvl 74... Why doesnt sge get to see such numbers?

While I agree with your overall point misery is functionally 310 rather than 1240 because of the way lilys work but otherwise yes, “DPS healer” ie different coat of paint on eos and otherwise same design as the other 3Not realy.
