Hard to say but don't forget that lots of times the devs are super bad at playing the games they make.Right so as we know Balance team tests fight themselves before release right?
but is there an actual confirmation of this? like recording or stream or anything of the sort that proves that or is it just "hehe you gotta believe us"?
Because looking at current tier and some comps, I dont believe p8s was tested/cleared with most classes
I wonder who hurt you all considering how bitter these threats are.
Ok so; Week 1/2 raiding is an activity that a subset of the community really enjoys, and it's something that only gets to happen like 3 times every 2 years.
For two tiers in a row, certain peoples main jobs have been essentially unplayable (particularly in pugs) during this time, making something they looked forward to for months and months very disappointing.
I know a bunch of people who decided to just quit the tier when they reached P8S and realized they weren't having fun anymore. That is not a good thing for the health of a game, and is bringing back flashes of things like A3S.
that's interesting, is there any link to this liveletter? In one of the producer letters they explained how during testing they use an HP refill mode (refill rather than KO) to avoid having to wipe and restart. This intentionally enables the testing teams to go in blind but learn the fight much faster than regular players would. After they know the fight, the now-expert team confirms that it can be cleared with all the comps in regular player mode at min ilvl and without HP refill. I imagine Yoshi-p (busy as he is) would also use HP refill mode to learn the fights, and would probably clear them with experienced teams (though maybe still at min ilvl for a bit of fun.)
Obviously if they gave this sort of wipe invulnerability to players during progression it would make learning the fights much faster and easier. Players would also probably complain that the fights were too quick and easy to clear.
I think Yoshi-p also explained that the dev/testing teams are good players but not "world class" players, and they're always impressed at how well players optimize the fights (I imagine, without any evidence of course, that they're also grudgingly impressed with players finding and exploiting bugs and unintended behavior, even if it results in major headaches.)
Do we know what comp they used to test this?
Unless you're a week 1/2 clearer , this doesn't effect you because you'll have more gear by the time you see this boss.
I haven't paid much attention to all this drama about balance and p8s because by the time I see the fight I'll have a few more pieces of gear.
Also the discussion about class balance doesn't affect anyone but week 1/2 and world prog - All jobs CAN and WILL continue to clear all content available.
This p8s boss hp thing only affects week 1/2 and world prog too - I can understand complaints from people actually clearing week 1/2 but it gets picked up by the average PF bob who clears 5-10+ weeks or w/e in and starts banning specific jobs from their groups simply because some video said the job can't do that fight.

They probably test at full +10 over min ilevel if I had to guess. So probably full tome gear / base weapon. SE has frequently shown their incompetence since ad far back as 2.0 when NIN's did too much damage because they didn't realise how the players would optimize it.
I'm sure they test it. But I doubt they test it from the week 1-4 perspective.
Perhaps, but the changes that the devs make in response to this mess WILL affect the playstyle of any class they change. It's not hard to see why people are nervous considering how they took SMN out back and "changed" it, lol.Unless you're a week 1 clearer none of this affects you.

This p8s boss hp thing only affects week 1 and world prog too - I can understand complaints from the top 1% or so but everyone else won't be seeing that boss for another few weeks at which point they have gear.
