    Well, there you have it. You are playing the weakest job by design. Abandon ship or don't. Either way, it's very clear Yoshida has no intention of making this job serve any purpose whatsoever besides being a "beginner job". I'm out.

    This makes me so sad, but it's true. This is the way they're balancing the jobs and it's terrible. Each job should have the potential to do good damage.

    Honestly I wouldn't really care about the MCH burst-reliant rotation if they designed the fights to not ruin them so much.

    Yeah I get that fight choreography needs to be interrupted for badass attacks or phase changes but it's not like the boss is out of range of my gun.

    That's a genuine surprise considering SAM is a top damage dealer right now but requires about as much thought nowadays as MCH does now that they've bimbofied it into the easiest melee job. I'm done trying to infer what these people are thinking; their thoughts on balance seem inconsistent and contradictory.

    I actually really really really like how MCH plays right now. I don't want to see a massive redesign or mechanics change other than Hypercharge being a timed stack system like Bunshin and Blood Weapon. All I really want to see on MCH is massive potency buffs. I don't want it to be more "2 minute party burst window" friendly, I'd rather that just be nuked

    Just listen what the boss said, they think the balance is fine as it is.
    It's the black sheep of the family, a job without identity, a support without support, a "selfish" dps without dps. There's no hope for this job.

    In other words, the players for whom MCH is weak, are by definition also the ones who are already prepared to job swap anyway. It's weird for a job to be perma-singled out to be in that state, but you can imagine SE being fine with it. It's not a wildly unreasonable stance.
    Sounds like someone who swapped jobs just to clear the tier because they realized it wasn't good enough.

    Oh wait. You did.

    I could probably clear the fights I am in significantly easier if I was Bard or Dancer this tier. But I refuse to simp for my static, so they all get to suffer for it instead because Machinist isn't even meeting par. If you're going to state something so absurd, at least provide proof of it, which you can't do because the data already proves otherwise.

    Completely disagree. Each role should have different options within it.

    Melee Have Samurai as the selfish DPS, and then Monk/Dragoon/Reaper have a range of utility options, and then Ninja comes out as the most utility oriented melee job.
    Casters have BLM as the selfish DPS, and then Summoner and Red Mage provide varying levels of party support and raid buffs.

    Physical ranged should be no different. Machinist is our selfish DPS, make it right.
