What keeps you coming back?

I'm bored yet excited with anticipation about getting back into FFXIV. Been playing Rift to keep myself entertained while waiting but it just doesn't have the feeling I miss from playing FFXIV.

We've had a topic asking what was the game breaker for people who have currently left the game, so I figured I'd make a topic asking what makes each and every one of you coming back.

For me it would have to be the community and friends you make in a LS on FFXIV. Rift is pretty much a solo fest no guild atm, so I'm quickly getting quite bored of it. :/

Well for me I quit in November and came back in mid January. When I quit I was bored because most of the people in the 3 LSs I was in had quit. When I came back my wife made a character so I had someone to play with again. I have been back playing since. The game is pretty terrible to me when i have to play alone BUT when I get to play with someone else I like it pretty good.

I play it for the group aspect, which almost every other mmo made recent horribly lacks. While FFXIV lacks people partying to the extreme, it is focused on grouping over soloing in terms of progression. So it is still on the right track, hoping the community will finally start grouping again.

I agree with Tony though, Solo this game is unbearable. Party wise it fun.

Yeah I know how that feels. I got bored early in the game and quit for a few weeks, came back and everyone in the LS at the time was gone. Couple days later I ended up quitting for a month or so. So boring without people on to talk to or keep your attention away from the crafting grind.

you know its like i said in 11. I really HATE this game but its like crack you keep doing it knowing its sooo bad for you , but you just dont care. 14 i like because its not 11 but is 11 but isent DAMN IT im in the same damn quagmire i was in again

I miss my friends, and I miss doing things with my boyfriend (long distance relationship lol). I gotta get back and tease my one shellmate about styling his hair!

Well, a few reasons:

-I like the story so far (especially how it has cutscenes), and I want to see the rest of it.
-The content they do have is very relaxing, and I like it. Not everything has to be so hardcore and nerve-racking. Not that I don't want that too.
-I really believe they will turn this game around, and I want to be able to say I was here from the beginning.
-I never actually met an FF game I didn't like (although XII came close :P).

I'm coming back because i'll to see how the game evolve.
every months its becoming more and more of what i'm expecting from the franchise.
I know there's still a long way to go but SE is work hard to get there.

FFXIV's potential and watching it evolve first hand. Years from now(just like in XI when Abyssea was released) I can see a bunch of XIV vets having our "Do you remember when..." talks lol.

Awesome. Breaking from the fansite forums its nice to see more positive post. I'd have to say another of mine is seeing the transition from release to greatness as Armageddon/Akumu said. Now if only they had the THF class I miss so much. So many abilities spread out all over, but no hide, mug, or steal.

Edit to add: Yeah, Akumu. Will be nice to reflect back. I came in late in FFXI and didnt get to see all of the additions and build up of content from what was.
