The only DPS meters are those that aren't allowed in the game. I've seen how DPS meters have affected players. Early on they were actually rather useful for people to monitor their DPS and they kept it hush hush inside of FFXIV whilst talking about it externally and trying to get advice on how they could adjust their rotations and improve their parses.

Nowadays however it looks like the community is turning ugly as more people use them despite it's against the TOS and has known to have gotten people banned for using them. Some people have gone really nasty over players who aren't performing optimally even in normal content and being elitist. I can fully understand Yoshii's decision on not adding DPS parsers for this very reason but it doesn't stop people using them anyways because honestly you can't really play an MMO that relies on DPS checks without having them to know whether or not you can actually meet that requirement, it's a ludicrous expectation and the stone sky and sea thing is just not adequate enough because it doesn't take into consideration that you'll have to dodge a lot of mechanics throughout the fight itself and that will affect your overall damage output. I wish there were better ways but unfortunately people have a habit of always turning something useful into a weapon to berate others with and it happens online more often since they're hiding behind a facade at the other side of a monitor where you can't see or reach them.
