Feature request DPS check for PS players

    Hi,

Just recently got into Savage fights.. and as a DPS player I would like to make sure that my DPS is not dragging anyone else down and make sure I improve.

However there's no way for me to check how well I did in the savage runs or if I can still get higher damage on it.

I do the sky, stone, sea for the fight and I do clear that before trying the savage fight. But am hoping for a way to check my own damage after savage fights to see if doing things differently improved it or made it worse.

    Thanks!

    A suggestion.

If you look at the # on the left sidebar I believe it shows you where you are at threat wise to the target - so if your desire is to know if your the weak link you should be able to compare your threat to your dps peers.
I am suprised your asking for this 2 years into the game...seems sus..

You're asking for a dps meter which will never be implemented though, Yoshi P said as much multiple times.

If you can clear stone sky sea then you have the damage to clear. Just keep doing your best while learning the mechanics

Sadly there is no way to know, unless u don’t play on a console, as a pc user u can use external tools to monitor, to make it even worse, if u are a console player like me, there is a high change everyone in the group knows your dps but yourself.

Sky stone and sea, says nothings about your dps in a savage fight it’s an extremely poor way to rate your dps, as it’s a static fight. The only thing I found somewhat useful is unsync some of the older savage fights, in which u do try to avoid the mechanics and time how fast u get the target down.

To me it’s extremely weird that there is not a personal dps meter, if clearly a large part of the savage community exactly knows there and my dps.

The only DPS meters are those that aren't allowed in the game. I've seen how DPS meters have affected players. Early on they were actually rather useful for people to monitor their DPS and they kept it hush hush inside of FFXIV whilst talking about it externally and trying to get advice on how they could adjust their rotations and improve their parses.

Nowadays however it looks like the community is turning ugly as more people use them despite it's against the TOS and has known to have gotten people banned for using them. Some people have gone really nasty over players who aren't performing optimally even in normal content and being elitist. I can fully understand Yoshii's decision on not adding DPS parsers for this very reason but it doesn't stop people using them anyways because honestly you can't really play an MMO that relies on DPS checks without having them to know whether or not you can actually meet that requirement, it's a ludicrous expectation and the stone sky and sea thing is just not adequate enough because it doesn't take into consideration that you'll have to dodge a lot of mechanics throughout the fight itself and that will affect your overall damage output. I wish there were better ways but unfortunately people have a habit of always turning something useful into a weapon to berate others with and it happens online more often since they're hiding behind a facade at the other side of a monitor where you can't see or reach them.

Stone, Sky, Sea says enough: if you cannot kill the dummy, you cannot make a fair contribution to the real fight.

Its purpose is not to tell you you can do it. It's there to tell you you're definitely not ready.

These are the things you need to know

    Your rotation
    Your uptime
    Your buff alignment

DPS meters don't tell you these at all. theyre things you learn by playing and making mistakes. (Log analysis, however can help you with these but a simple numbers meter will not whatsoever)

So it’s a pointless exercise if u have a little clue about your rotation and are correctly geared which is not hard at all in ffxiv u easily beat the dummy, it’s a very lazy implementation of a dps check, which tells u very little about your performance in savage.

It’s a start, console players have no tools to analyze there performance at all, not even a basic dps meter, but the rest of the party if on pc has a huge arsenal to measure there performance and also my performance in detail. So make it impossible to use the external tool or accept that a huge part of the savage community uses the tools and make it even if only in a limited capacity available to everyone.
