Very interesting...
Another person coming into this thread claiming I'm trying to bait others when it comes to clear violations of terms of service. This isn't bait, this isn't me stirring the pot. This is me stating my opinion on how individuals during initial boss fights during patch drops knowing nearly all the mechanics of that fight and avoiding all the other circumstances every other player has to endure because of having an unfair advantage.
And for the rest who are making comments on how "they have done the boss fight a hundred times hence know how to play the fight", most not all get to this point because they have people queuing them who are using these add-ons teaching them the repetition and pattern of these fights. How do I know?
I several years ago was one of those people involved in it having people in my group prompting me. After personally experiencing this for a few months 3 and 1/2 years ago, that's why I stopped and became adamantly against these forms of cheating.
I guess it's my fate as a Dark Knight. Soon, I won't even feel any remorse for my actions!-Cecil Harvey-FFIV DRK
They can't without making something that checks whats installed on a users computer.
People have a basic human right to privacy, what's installed on their machines is no business of a Video Game developers.
Packaging software with their game that allows them to see what's on your machine is ILLEGAL and would get them in a whole world of legal trouble.
Law Enforcement need a high court warrant and reasonable suspicion of a crime being committed to be able to spy on someone like that, Square Enix is just a video game developer.

1 - Cactbot just does call-outs, it doesn't resolve the mechanic for you. And if it does, it tells you where you need to go, and...
2 - Even if they tell you what mechanic is coming, you're still gonna have to know how to handle it. And given how PF has murdered my sanity, I can say for sure that people will struggle with performing basic tasks even if they know it's coming. Look, if even with human call-outs they say "Go to A" and people screw up, it's not it being a robot that will make it any different.
3 - Can someone please explain to me why this is even considered "cheating"? Because Playstation people can't do it, is that it...? How did people on PC even manage to get world first in order to make those triggers in the first place? The only thing it cheats on is people's fragile-as-ice ego because they want to hold some ridiculous notion of success out of a videogame. Touch grass if you're this competitive, jesus...
4 - "How is it that some players who clear Ultimates and therefore have superior intelligence/memory/comprehension to others are mostly out of work when they could be NASA researchers?" ....ok sometimes I have issues understanding these things, but this sounds like a troll post. Is this a troll post? Did I get baited?
6 - "A good way to compare PC and Playstation gamers would be to have a console-only data center (with no travel possible for PC gamers), I think clear rates/ranking on the dps meter/economy would be very different, Why Square Enix dont do that ?"
...please tell me you're a troll.
Square won't do that because that's kind of one of the appeals in this game, that PS people can play with their PC friends!
Fun fact, I'd never have met my friend who's since cleared every Ultimate apart from Dragonsong had she been relegated off to some other server because she used to play on PS4.
Just because you have accessibility, it doesn't mean you're cheating. And just because you're getting a robot calling you out, it doesn't mean that it's cheating either. The only thing you're cheating is the ToS that says "please don't use third party tools in general". Otherwise, you haven't out-cleared anyone, you have performed better than the people who worked their butts off to clear the content and improve to a certain percentile. And you're really just cheating out of this illusory race for anonymous superiority.
If people are the kind to feel so angy over that, then congratulations, you're holding the biggest L in the universe :T
If accessibility is cheating, then I'm doomed. Because I need to use specific Nvidia shaders to handle with colourblindness in this game, because the innate colourblindness settings they have are either too weak or way too strong for me.
Post limits are the actual hell.
Not really :I But that's because I'm lazy. If I don't want to be challenged all the time or, hell, struggle with some stuff (playing this game is a little bit more involved than solving sudoku, I'm sorry), why not have auxilliary support?
I know it's not the same as Cactbot, but again I point to the fact that I kinda need a third party tool to be able to see some stuff if I want to enjoy the game. So if there are people out there who struggle with Sudoku, I say "go for it honey", because I personally see zero problem with them "cheating" at something if it means they get to enjoy it. You could argue "But they won't enjoy it like an original experience", but the fact is that that original experience is what's unenjoyable to them in the first place.
Plus, some rewards are locked behind Savage. Not everyone should strive to clear Savage just for those rewards unlike people who ACTUALLY care about the Savage fight itself that much.
The alternative is "just don't do this content". But would you tell me to not do content just because I can't see stuff without a shader on?
Yeah, and on my previous post on this, I specifically stated that the only thing this is actively harming is the ToS that specifically says "Don't use third party tools in general". THAT should be respected.
What I'm referring to hurt egos is the fact that you have people calling it "cheating" and such as if it directly harms them. It doesn't. Savage isn't a competition, it's just content.

OP needs to mind his own business and play the god damn game.
I don't use them and I don't care for them but holy shit the whiney Karens are getting tedious.

Since SE says no to addons or mod then yes it really does need to implement some kind of detector for these, BUT no one will ever really take SE serious if all its got "pls stop it" in its arsenal. So until then use whatever addons or mods you want or need, aint nothing going to stop you unless your blatantly posting/streaming it. Fuck it!
No offense, but you are missing the point to Yoshida limiting it to "pls stop it".
The issue has never been that they can't lock out the ability to inject code, i.e. "plug-ins" - it is that they don't want to because in the ripples from doing so will be felt throughout the game, modder and non-modder alike. He is literally keeping corporate at bay here and begging us to not overdo it, because if corporate says "press the button" it's over.
From implementing and constantly running verification software (can affect performance) to potentially making many functions exclusively server-side (affects stable game connection and/or requires much beefier servers), they absolutely have options to eternally f*** modders over, but at what cost?
You cannot combat plugins without reworking the platform they are running on, and changing that platform takes both time/resources and potentially performance.
A large part of doing mechanics is being able to read their tells and solve them. If you were playing a game like Sudoku or a Crossword and a computer was giving you all of the answers, would you say it isn't cheating because you're manually writing them in the boxes?
Because it fundamentally automates a portion of the games intended execution, and is explicitly banned by the company that operates the game and defines what is fair and what is not.
Cactbot does not just make simple callouts. It reads data instantly that is typically invisible to the client, and solves mechanics instantly given that data.
The only people with hurt egos are the people who go through insane mental gymnastics to try to justify that Cactbot isn't a cheat program. I don't even care that much if people use it, but good lord just recognize it for what it is lol.
The biggest problem console players face when raiding isn't the lack of addons but how awkward Discord is to use if you're on there. Unless you have a specific set up, most console players will have to rely on mobile and won't be able to hear important audio cues in the game. But I still know several console players that cleared 3-4 ultimates even while having a terrible audio set up. We'll see if this changes whenever Sony and Discord's partnership does anything.
