No offense, but you are missing the point to Yoshida limiting it to "pls stop it".

The issue has never been that they can't lock out the ability to inject code, i.e. "plug-ins" - it is that they don't want to because in the ripples from doing so will be felt throughout the game, modder and non-modder alike. He is literally keeping corporate at bay here and begging us to not overdo it, because if corporate says "press the button" it's over.

From implementing and constantly running verification software (can affect performance) to potentially making many functions exclusively server-side (affects stable game connection and/or requires much beefier servers), they absolutely have options to eternally f*** modders over, but at what cost?

You cannot combat plugins without reworking the platform they are running on, and changing that platform takes both time/resources and potentially performance.
