my version of "reading 101" notes Canadane did not say addons were all cheating programs. they said..."cheating is bad". which I tend to agree with, anyone cheating deserves a ban. since its up to SE to determine what is and isnt cheating (which they seem rather slow about) we'll be waiting a while and the cheaters will keep cheating with zero consequences.

My favorite part about these threads isn’t the OP who’s obviously stirring the pot, it’s the people who genuinely think this is a serious post and come in to complain in favor of the OP.
Lot's of Seigi-man (Justice-Man) posts here.
Add-ons can be cheats, but not all add-ons are cheats. I went over this with my group and explained to them what is considered okay, what is "please try to avoid using it, it will literally hinder your improvement as a player" and what is just plain cheating.
Okay things to use* (in MY opinion):
- Job Icons in nameplates
- Shield gauge on Parameters UI (your normal HP bar)
- Slidecast-window identifier in cast bar; this is ok because EMOTES on a hotbar indicate when you can slidecast as a workaround.
- Visual mods that only change appearances of characters or small things about bosses ('Yaoi'-paddle Thordan)
- Shaders
- Chat bubbles
- Mods that modify visual effects of certain actions to not appear (think AST LB3's absurd light flash at the end, literal flashbang)
- any form of hotbar or party list UI replacement
- a manatick gauge so you can stop counting three seconds between MP ticks in your head (hi BLMs)
Things I want people to avoid:
- Cactbot (to be specific: Callouts of which mechanic coming next)
- game overrides of weave windows when you have stable / low ping (NoClippy and portions of XIValexander)
Things that are just HARD NO and replace people for on first offense:
- Zoom hacks
- Minimaps that indicate AOE placements
- Visuals for AOEs that don't have visuals
- Callouts of where to go for your mechanic and only you specifically - WoW crowd should know what I mean
- any form of automation of combat (i.e. a rotation bot)
- more advanced functions of XIValexander that will ACTUALLY let you do things you can't do otherwise.
You can disgree and the Dev team can definitely disagree, the TOS is clearly defined - however as long as we are in the stage of self-policing, we need to understand that we can still think freely for ourselves and reflect upon what is actually problematic and what is not.
So I would implore you to actually dig up the info about what you consider cheating first, do some research and put some constructive criticism about it rather than just asking for a blanket ban of every single plugin - with a software to detect no less.
Don't be a Seigi-man, be someone people like to hang around with.
I'm just going to state facts and ask questions that I would like to have answered as a console gamer.
If the plugins are not cheating like Cacbot that some players use I quote them as "comfort", how come there has never been in the world any complete team of 8 playstation players who managed to clear an ultimate? Are there any videos of a team of 8 console players getting to clear Ultimate ?
How is it that no team of 8 Playstation players (not 1 or 2 players but the 8) is in the first places of the world race? How is it that some players who clear Ultimates and therefore have superior intelligence/memory/comprehension to others are mostly out of work when they could be NASA researchers?
A good way to compare PC and Playstation gamers would be to have a console-only data center (with no travel possible for PC gamers), I think clear rates/ranking on the dps meter/economy would be very different, Why Square Enix dont do that ?
Because segregation for the sake of proving 8 console chads can raid and clear together does nothing, realistically.I'm just going to state facts and ask questions that I would like to have answered as a console gamer.

Despite the console population being fairly high for this game, thanks to continued console support, there is also a significant amount of PC players, meaning that statistically it is not impossible but unlikely to just end up with 8 console players without bruteforcing it.
And what exactly would 8 players on console prove? That you can clear content without plugins? What about 8 players on PC not using plugins but using controllers? <s> Oh forgive, I forgot - every PC player is a chance they have plugins, thus the data is no longer valid. </s>
All a console-only datacenter would achieve is player segregation and massively hampered queue times just to appease a crowd being angry at PC players having access to a Plugin API while they do not.
Not going to add to what Reinhardt said irt clearing content because he talked about clearing content, but irt "why no console only": SE has already said no, and they said it to Microsoft. Before they finally came to an agreement before Endwalker, the two things that SE said "absolutely not" to were the requirement of needing Xbox Gold to play, and Xbox-only servers. PS+ is not required for PS4/PS5 players to play because Yoshida found it absurd for players to not only be paying a monthly sub for XIV, but a sub fee for PS+ on top of that, and console-only servers would only hurt the console community. As Reinhardt said, the console player base is pretty sizeable, but not compared to the PC players. They would likely end up merging servers into each other before players actively called to go back to a mixed population of console/pc. Segregating them is not the way to do it, and Yoshida knows it.I'm just going to state facts and ask questions that I would like to have answered as a console gamer.

I love the blatant assumption that if you're smart and can raid you must be out of a job. This has to be a troll now.I'm just going to state facts and ask questions that I would like to have answered as a console gamer.
