    The last time I checked player role popularity, it seemed Healer was the least played role, and yet WHM is the most popular class.

    Correct, WHM has popularity as a staple FF class but also WHM is your only choice to start a healer at level 1 and if you don’t want to start as a DPS you only option pre HW, I’m guessing WAR or PLD would be a lot more popular if the other one was locked behind being a DPS till level 30
