Insant Portraits too difficult to change w/glamour

As it stands if you change your glamour away from the first one you set up your portrait with it becomes difficult to change it. There's no way to know if you successfully changed it either until you enter a PVP match.

The portrait screen may show it correctly but when you enter a match it will go back to the default. Alternatively, it just becomes difficult to change it altogether. Linking it to a glamour plate doesn't seem to help.

This shouldn't be so hard.


If there could just be a button that says "Save current appearance" that would fix this or just an option "Use current appearance" instead it trying to save an outfit so it'll just dynamically change each time you change your glamour.

It feels far more cumbersome now in the new system with every portrait being tied to a job at all times. On all the portraits without a specific weapon animation, it shouldnt even require relinking at all imo. The pose is still the same, just with different gear now.

I wish I could make ONE portrait that just changes glams when I change class.

Now: I'm not saying remove the current options, just give me this extra option too.

If your portrait reverts back to default, it means you haven't saved the current appearance to your gear set (the top-right spinning-arrow button in your character profile screen). Assuming you use the same pose for 10 jobs, you will need to change into these jobs and save your appearance so that the portrait will work properly. You will also need to re-apply the save-appearance if you change gear or apply a different glam on your current gear.

I had this issue the other day and nothing you suggested fixed it. I don't even know what I did to fix it, I even made a brand new gearset, never changed out of the job or my glamours, and it still said it didn't match. It started doing it suddenly and I didn't have the problem prior to it. It's clearly not working as intended.

Unfortunately, the current system should be called beta. It needs to be fluid so when you change your gear / class it automatically changes the portrait. If you wanted to lock something in there should simply be a "lock" icon when editing the portrait so it remains static even after changing gear.

The current system as it is, is some of the worst work SE has put out in this game and it's disappointing.

Toggle the visor mode -- even on stuff with no actual visor -- and save the gearset. You'll then see the instant portrait no longer matches, and you can edit/save it to update. It will then start working again. (If the gearset does have a visor you wanted in a specific mode, you can then toggle it back to what it was before, save again, and update the portrait again.)

I have no idea why this is necessary, but since I stumbled across it, it's allowed me to fix the PvP instant portraits 100% of the time.

Wdym you don't want to hit the update gear set button and edit your portrait from the portraits menu manually every time you happen to accidentally leave your weapon visible or not visible?

The instant portrait system is a pain
EVERY TIME you update your gearset your portrait will get that warning symbol next to it, warning you it's invalid, so you have to open up your portrait and save it just so it works in PvP again

I miss the old system where I could make a "generic" instant portrait which worked for all my jobs regardless of glamour/gearset changes.
Now, I instead have to import my portrait into every gearset, and I manually have to update it whenever I change glams so it actually reflects my look instead of having me stuck in that default pose

This is worse than the "beta" version in every way
