I don't act one way or another. I know how people are in the east. I know that message was broadcast to all. It doesn't matter if it was directed one way or another. All should take this advice if they actually want to be heard. Anyone who's happy just bickering back and forth and crying that nothing is done is the real clown. There could be some valuable feedback to be gleaned from the forums and other spots, but it's drowning in so much bullshit.

I just wanted to respond to this part of your quote. I'm sorry for taking it out of the full quote, but hopefully context won't be lost.

I don't believe the forums are any sort of indicator of the devs involvement with the community personally. I've seen SO many issues get addressed that the JP community just didn't care about (to name just a few: Hroth ears, Female Hroth, Male Viera - please correct me if I'm wrong).

However, I do see a shift IN-GAME when it comes to this quote, and I completely agree - it does seem like Yoshi is drifting away from the XIV community. There have been changes that looked way more similar to the 1.x mentality - specifically Viera / Hroth implementation (gender locked / no hats / unfinished). Another issue I've noticed is the lack of detail in armor (ears for miqote, anyone remember visors?, 3-months between patches, no longer supporting hard mode early dungeons / only 1 dungeon per patch which is usually tied to the MSQ only). These are pretty minor in the long run, but I have noticed it seems like the keen eye to detail isn't like it was in 2.x.

Yoshi, however, has given me nearly 9yrs of great gameplay with my family. He has at least earned, from me personally, the benefit of the doubt. I think what you said is true in that possibly 16 is just stretching him thin. I wouldn't want anyone else to replace him, despite him seemingly checking out. I don't really have an answer to this concern other than I'm glass half-full right now, but I do notice a change.

and you have given another example actually! before the recent patch where they finally released hair for viera and hrothgar, there was absolutely nothing. viera and hrothgar were left in the dark about when or if they are even going to get new hair. as new hair is released and not available to either race, i can see how they are getting frustrated. while to me hair isn't a game changer for the game for me, i can understand that to some players it is. if a dev, or even a community manager had replied to one or a few of those threads saying that they are currently being worked on, im sure that would quell a lot of frustration.

when i check dev tracker, the last (actual) dev response was from april and it was just a community rep. while i understand that the dev team does not speak english well or at all so i do not expect them to constantly be on our forums, it is nice when it is translated or occasionally on big questions if that makes sense.

while japanese community rep was recently seen in japanese forums.

    answering someone's question regarding housing.

in my opinion, a community rep is a dev as well. they work closely with devs to answer questions, and i think we need one that actually sticks around. i hope i worded this better

It was from the mogtalk radio (or whatever it's called), which is for jp. And he used example from jp community, so yeah it matter in context of your post since you put all the blame on NA.

You want less bullshit in OF? Then you can start by stop posting.

Yes, this is exactly what I meant. I started this journey for the very first time back in 2014. It was a whole different feeling back then. I was there in the 2016 fanfest, happy to fly from my country to the US just to share this bond I felt with the dev team.

I felt the care of the entire team towards this game on every word, every feature put in the game. When Yoshi P said Hrothgar and Vieras would not wear hats and accesories, I was shocked. That didn't seem to be consistent with the visions shared by him in the early stages.

I enjoy the game, the memories, and I'm grateful to Yoshi P for rescuing my favorite game IP. But I can't say he cares anymore. If he did, he wouldn't be milking us on the Mog Station. He was so hesitant to even making it in the first place, now we get exclusive pieces of gear and mounts there for $18, $25, $42 USD. Like the price of an entire expansion? And don't forget the new housing items?

Idk, I'm not defending the increasing toxicity in these forums, but I do feel a disconnect from the head, and when that happens, you need to be mentally prepared for what's to follow. It's been a good 10 years

First of all, your English is incredible and your wording is great. I think I understand now where the differences are, and it's purely subjective on my end - so I apologize for that.

The answer of "not having enough server space," of course isn't acceptable and they should do better. However, I have heard that the XIV team does suffer severely from a criminally low amount of server space compared to what they need. I don't know the exact details, so please consider this only hearsay. Personally, although I expect them to do better, I also understand this is an accurate answer.

I completely agree with you that community managers need to work close enough to the devs to be able to answer questions - I saw this in GW2 where I did find the forum response (at least in the beginning) to be what I think you're describing.

I guess after being with this game for so long I don't see what new news the forum devs could provide if Yoshi has already said it. The viera hair / gender lock thing was a major sore spot for me and I nearly quit the game over it (I had waited on Viera since they posted a poll to us in 1.x and Viera was the second most desired race besides un-genderlocking the other races). They even teased us with concept art during the Heavensward pre-release / fanfest stuff - yeah I was mad.

Still, as angry as I was, I knew the answer - They may or may not add anything due to the unique head models (/cough - floating bunny ears so I've heard - /cough). I was angry, I nearly quit the game out of disappointment, but I never once considered coming on here and demanding information. I was given information. I didn't like it, but I was given it - they might fix it. Then they changed their answer (as they do) - it did take years, but Yoshi answered the hairstyle issue I think in 2 or 3 interviews shortly after shadowbringers released saying the same thing.

NOW - if they had given different insight / answers on other forums... then yes, my entire opinion would completely change.

Anyways, I'm sorry for beating a deadhorse. I agree with you and disagree on some points. However, thank you very much for the civil conversation and expanding your thoughts!

I'm not even talking about how much information they give us or not. I just think that if devs were actually reading they'd care about things like getting troll threads shut down quickly or merging replica discussions, and perhaps making more official threads to discuss announcements instead of leaving it to be posted by users, sometimes with unflattering commentary.

It's a bad look for them that I don't think they'd want if they knew it was happening; therefore I assume they're not seeing it and just being told "all is well and there's a lot of discussion happening".

japanese is easier than english. i hear english is hardest to learn, so if you know it, you can learn any other language with a little effort
