    The Positive Thread

    Post what you LIKE about PvP.

    1. I like the unique job limit breaks, while balance is up in the air for a few of them, I think they all fit the jobs pretty well from a thematic standpoint.

    2. I like the changes to job actions, I do wish there was a little more than we have but I think it's nice no longer instantly losing a frontline because your team doesn't have a healer, etc.

    3. I think payload objectives are fun, they can sometimes be frustrating but I think you can get some really good games in them. Especially matches that are super tug of war, or awesome come backs.

    Things you want to see added or changed?

    1. I'd like to see a Rival Wings daily roulette, I've never played the mode because it's dead.

    2. Some changes to limit breaks, some are too strong or unable to be countered whereas others are easy to see coming and easily countered.

    3. Volcanic Heart camera collision right now feels a bit wonky.

    4. Give me PvP actions / duels in Island Sanctuary so I can brutally murder my friends.

    If I had to choose one thing I liked about PVP, it's the spontaneity. Since our teammates and opponents are other PCs and jobs are mixed, no two players play exactly the same and no two games are exactly the same. What may have worked last time may not work in the future. Mental game is at least as important as pushing your buttons. It's something completely different than the rest of the FFXIV.

    If I had to choose one thing to change, it would be the risk-reward balance for all jobs. Some jobs are in a good place where the reward justifies the risk if successful. But others feel like the risk is hardly ever worth the reward, or a big reward is given with little risk. And this extends to things like damage reduction in Frontlines. Obviously, this subject has nuance, but in general, this is how I feel.

    Hmm...

    1: It's very quick, in-and-out match

    2: Maps are pretty good with it's mechanics change the way you play.(needs more maps badly though)

    ..............I can't think of anything else..too many cons.

    What needs to be changed?

    1: A personal ranking system w/ prestige. Even if you get demoted in CC in terms of tiers, your personal rank does not. When it caps, you can reset it, give a prestige rank and unlock items based on that rank. SE needs to give ppl more reason to play this content.

    2: CC needs more maps in the game. A water map under the Ruby Sea for instance, drowning DoT, CC in the spot for a KO lol. A frozen map in Garlemeld(not correcting it). Certain time, wind direction, not covered before it goes off...you get frozen and chance to get a free KO.

    3: .....if they want plates to be more unique, they may as well announce a plate contest for the community.

    Having unique limit breaks for each job is really cool and at least from a visual aspect, they're so radical.

    I don't like the overall job 'balance' and the sheer amount of hard crowd control effects right now. Could do with a lot less and be better off for it.
    Many LBs could use just a small touch to add any counterplay to them.
    Change up the damage reduction in frontlines. Not all melee deserve a flat 60%. And address paladin in onsal.
    Different game modes for CC like TDM or CTF, for casual play or something. Just to shake things up at least a little bit.

    1. It has gotten easier to acquire KOs. Healers no longer are the main deciding factor with who lives. Bursts and pressuring are easier to achieve. Overall, it's way easier to be on the offense than defense (in my opinion).
    2. Combat has gotten faster. No more waiting 1 min for party buffs and 30 secs for burst. You're constantly moving and fighting. Oh, and no cooldown on sprint.
    3. We have a new and fun mode, and it seems to keep everyone engaged (keyword: seems)

    Adds? Changes?

    1. It has gotten easier to acquire KOs (lol). Reason being that crowd control is the most important thing in order to acquire kills. This isnt mentioning certain classes that has a way around Guard and Purify. (See past threads on Crowd Control.) Consider adding back in diminishing returns. Crystal Conflict may not need it as much, but frontlines does.
    2. Unlock Astragalos (See past threads for Rival Wings roulette). It's been locked ever since the release of Hidden Gorge. It may as well be accessible to the public to show why Hidden Gorge was made differently.
    3. Make Crystal Conflict customs be playable while parties are downsized. Let's start there. Dont see why the options for pvp as far as premades are concerned are 1-4 people in a party or 10 in a group. It makes no sense whatsoever.
    4. Don't delete anything else from pvp. It's bad enough that there's lack of options. Cant say anything about Heavensward. After changes from Stormblood to now I now have to deal with lack of choice. If only I can say what I had back then compared to now regardless of how good or bad it was...I'm making that choice to just keep it buried in order to not scare new players away from pvp.

    I like the limited job actions. PvE feels incredibly cluttered for a lot of jobs, and a smoothbrain like myself has trouble dealing with 30+ abilities.
    In PvP, the abilities are few, but impactful, which is the way I vastly prefer it. I want each button to be important on its own rather than step 1 of 10 to actually deal good damage!

    I'm with you on these wants. But how do you think you'd gear a map to be more balanced and not ranged favoured? What would the design be like, gimmicks, etc?

    Totally want more stuff to spend Wolf Marks and Trophies on, glams especially.

    Unfortunately I think the jank servers are to stay and the comms to be non-existent though!
