They made a lot of these over the years on why X reason can or cannot happen or it still being planned for the future.

Or why X reason was added or removed.

I noticed sometime we get users here that are not aware of those comments (including myself), should there be a pinned topic to archive all this or is there a site that has compiled all of these?

Honestly a lot of these statements don't mean much.

We were never supposed to get more glamour dresser space, but it eventually got doubled.

We we never supposed to get more glam set slots, we got them.

Stuff that was said years ago can change tomorrow.

Yes ever since pre ARR days they have always said things that they end up changing their minds about.
Like housing for FC and individual players supposed to be completely separate with different pricing, or the combat supposed to reward effort and innovation, no plans for a playable race after Au'ra, no plans for challenging light-party content, etc.

Makes sense I suppose. Hard to know what you might have the budget or scope for years later. Maybe your priorities get reconsidered based on user feedback. Some enterprising young coder comes up with a workaround for some previously thought impassable obstacle.

Plenty of reasons why they might "change their minds".

Seems more appropriate to translate "we can't do that" as "we won't be doing that for the forseeable future".

Stuff they say usually changed later on and come off as empty words. Sometimes they even lie. Something something Atma grinds, PLD will never block magic, we will definitely fix Parry, we listen to our players and definitely won't prune the wrong skills etc.

what people forget is that Yoshi P is not their friend. He doesn't even know the players as it's impossible. He might be the cutest, kindest, and whatever it is that makes it seem like he's a friend, but in the end, he's an employee of a company, and companies lie.

That doesn't make it a lie.

Maybe new tech or a bigger budget made something that was impossible in 2016 a reality today. Maybe unforeseen issues forced a planned feature to be cut or altered. Maybe the ever evolving needs and wants of the players made something that was a good idea at launch feel bad nine years and four expansions later. Things change over time, but that doesn't make the original statements a lie.

Take housing for example. People love to point back to that early 2014 interview where YoshiP said something along the lines of "you won't lose your house if you stop playing" and shout "HE LIED TO US!" You weren't lied to. It was true when he said it and it remained true for a long time afterwards. The fact that the situation later changed doesn't mean you were intentionally misled.

This is also why the devs tend to hedge so much when talking about features. Saying things like "we're considering adding", and such. Because players are crazy and if something happens and they have to change/cancel/delay people love pointing to old interviews and crying foul.

see any comments about why it's not possible to do X or Y. Want recent examples? Take any comments made about vieras and hrothgars to which the answer would simply be "we don't want to spend money", and see Yoshi P's responses to the community.

Yoshi P is the face of FFXIV, SE would never want him to speak certain truths to turn the community against the company. The fact is that the company is always cutting things out of the game to save as much as possible and make a higher profit than expected, but saying that to the public would be disastrous. So why don't we make our "hero" say things like "it's impossible to do that" or "according to lore..." instead.

I like Yoshi P and he also managed to hypnotize me to the point that I think he's a distant friend, but not to the point of deluding me that a lot of what he says is not because of SE.
