Yoshi P has said many things, and many of them have proven false over time.

That doesn't make it a lie.

Maybe new tech or a bigger budget made something that was impossible in 2016 a reality today. Maybe unforeseen issues forced a planned feature to be cut or altered. Maybe the ever evolving needs and wants of the players made something that was a good idea at launch feel bad nine years and four expansions later. Things change over time, but that doesn't make the original statements a lie.

Take housing for example. People love to point back to that early 2014 interview where YoshiP said something along the lines of "you won't lose your house if you stop playing" and shout "HE LIED TO US!" You weren't lied to. It was true when he said it and it remained true for a long time afterwards. The fact that the situation later changed doesn't mean you were intentionally misled.

This is also why the devs tend to hedge so much when talking about features. Saying things like "we're considering adding", and such. Because players are crazy and if something happens and they have to change/cancel/delay people love pointing to old interviews and crying foul.

Yoshi P is the face of FFXIV, SE would never want him to speak certain truths to turn the community against the company. The fact is that the company is always cutting things out of the game to save as much as possible and make a higher profit than expected, but saying that to the public would be disastrous. So why don't we make our "hero" say things like "it's impossible to do that" or "according to lore..." instead.

I like Yoshi P and he also managed to hypnotize me to the point that I think he's a distant friend, but not to the point of deluding me that a lot of what he says is not because of SE.

Some of Yoshida's own replies do reek of corporate bullshit, and it's like he makes absolutely no effort to hide that what he's saying is scripted. I think Yoshida genuinely cares about the game and its development as much as he says. Some stuff is clearly feasible. Nut until he has permission to tell his team to "go ahead" or he has the funding to do it, odds are he's just gonna have his hands tied and needs to play the nice boy and not keep our hopes up in polite ways.

Yoshi-P actually does that many interviews that a list of them would span taller than mount everest and probably greater than the distance between the sun and pluto.

In the media tour he did them all day long and he did them for a few days running, all day, when he attended gamescom and similar events. Some of them are in japanese. He does them without these events through the year as well. Many of his comments are from the 72 live letters which involve him speaking for hours, 14-hour broadcasts, random live streams he has done such as patch note reading or doing savage or information released on the lodestone.

He does a lot of interviews. If there is any question you have, the chances are, he has answered it before sometime in the last 10 years. And that is why when almost any question gets asked here I can recall an answer he gave on the subject.

Oh yea, well what type of socks does he prefer the most? I bet it's ear socks
