He certainly is, though I don't think it's anything specifically to do with being a de-scaled Au Ra face and rather is a mix of the face, the specific features (creepy inhuman eyes – but why?) and that they sort of tried to fit the face into a different head shape and you can see the join.

I'm pretty sure Aymeric and Edmont are also using Au Ra faces and they're much better.

But ... our horns, scales, and tails are part and parcel to what makes us Au Ra! I truly cannot imagine living without them (not to mention the fact that our horns are our ears so if you take away those, well ... I trust I do not even need to say it).
