The problem is once you reach rank 9, you literally spend less than an hour on your island. In fact, you can set the whole thing up on Tuesday to be entirely automated and once check back maybe twice a week if that. There's nothing else to keep the content alive and it only just released three weeks ago. All this artificial time gating was done purposely because the dev team knew Island Sanctuary has no staying power and would have been completed over an weekend otherwise.

I don't see it as a problem. It was designed for minimal contact. Time gating serves a purpose here. It's also how the games this is based on function.

Check out any browser / mobile game that has you building up stuff. You get tasks to earn goods / money at different intervals, from 15 minutes to 1 hour, 2, 4, 8, full day, a week. You pick it up and you put it back down. In a game that has so much more to offer, I don't see a problem there. I've still got plenty of other content to catch up on. I don't want to get too lost in this. I check on my island, then it's off to queue this or that or work on my real harvesting and crafting.

And ... your point being? I know a lot of people are saying what you said, what I don't understand is do you think back and reflect on what you said and see if it makes sense?

A few example: Xenoblade 3, I beat the game with a save clocked at 110h. That lasted just a little over a week. Before that, Trail of Cold Steel lasted me for about 5 days with ~80h clocked in. And I paid 60$ for them, to get roughly 1 week of entertainment. You see the point here? If people like and want to go ham at a content, they will. And they will finish it in no time at all without any gate.

Now ask yourself what do YOU expect? No time gate and content that will last you for weeks and months? How that's possible? Without time gate, normal raid will have one week top. Savage raid won't last a month. and 24 probably would die at 2 weeks. You know what is the only alternative to sustain without the time gate? Grind, long long grind. I don't know about you, but I much prefer time gate content over long grind.

Again, what reason is there to be stuck on the island? What activity on the island warrants all of our time as it is currently? I spend around maybe 15 minutes on my island per day and thats being generous. I water crops, feed animals, put stuff in workshop, check granaries then I'm left wondering "ok, what now? Nothing to do, guess il just sit here and admire the view????" Takes 15 minutes or less. It's BORING. And that doesn't even account for the fact that you can basically have your island self run by the mammets once you reach max rank, giving you even less of a reason to visit your island.

Some players will actually sit there and just admire the view or wander around or whatever takes their fancy. They're there to relax. not to be constantly productive.

If you find it boring, don't do it. Just because something exists doesn't mean you have to do it. Spend your time doing other things you don't find boring instead.

If you need reasons to visit your island, then don't hire the mammets for the cropland and pasture. Those are there more for players who are unable to log in daily not to mention they're cutting into the cowries you make for whatever items you're trying to buy.

That is a completely false assumption and quite laughable. I spent the bare minimum amount of time of my island and I'm still rank 10 with nothing to do there and bored of it. YOU can be happy with your island as it is and be ok with just visiting it for the aesthetically pleasing aspect of it, but other people are perfectly justified in wanting more to do.Assume less.
You're assuming you know what I was thinking.

Hint: you're wrong. I wasn't thinking about people hitting max rank in my response to you or the other poster. I was thinking that neither of you understand the purpose of the content and it appears that it's not right for you. If it was right for you, you wouldn't be making the specific complaints you have.

You've also spent more than the bare minimum amount of time on the island if you're already rank 10 and other players that have also visited their island daily aren't.

Here's another hint: "bare minimum of time" would be one second. You would not have a rank 10 island if that's all the time you'd spent there. There is no specific schedule of time commitment for this content. There's also no specific schedule of activity commitment. You do what you want when you want. If you choose to do nothing then your crops stop growing, your creatures' moods drop to Angry, your mammet foragers stop foraging and your workshops stop producing cowries. Not a big deal. Feel like doing something later? Then those things will change their status.

Again, if you're bored with the content why are you there instead of doing things you don't find boring?

Except the rare materials aren't a Workshop production requirement. You can still make a lot of cowries without them. And generating too much of any item will create the Overflow problem where the item brings in very little

The rest days make no sense at all unless they're supposed to be a reminded to the player to take breaks, and that's going to end up counterproductive for many players since it's going to decrease how much they're making.

I spend a lot of time where waiting for the weather and time to combine and enable the last couple rare animals. Once I have them all, I may automate the garden and pasture again, collecting the drops only once a week to minimize the awful repetitive collection interface.
I suppose it'll serve as a good source of gathering and crafting materia if I ever decide to get back into that grind again.

My island is max rank now, so there isn't much to do there aside from slopping the hogs and tending to the crops once a day. Everything is scheduled out for a week in advance and my pasture is full so capturing mobs is out.

That and I already touched grass today.

No I did not smoke it. There's a time and place for everything and it's called college.

Yeah cause you're really gonna be spending all your time on the island staring at your workshop queue.

Then tell me why there's no time gate on my microwave.

Oh right, it's a machine. It works instantly and when I need it.

That's actually the worst example. If you want to heat water, sure. Proper meals? There will be cold spots!
