Thread: The 6.2 updated portrait and adventurer plate system is terrible

I prefer the changes tbh

the primary issue i had with the beta was my links constantly breaking cuz I'd forget to open the portrait menu and update the links whenever I updated/changed my gear or glamour so I much prefer this new system where as long as I simply remember to update my character sheet (on the gear screen I already have open) the portrait gets updated as well

for the AP I also like the changes because it's essentially a 21st glamour plate now
in the beta I actually used up a glamour plate slot in my dresser so I could swap and tweak the AP
now I don't need to do that anymore and what's more I can tweak my AP on any job whevever I feel like it without breaking the glamour on the AP

I totally agree. I don't understand why they made some of these changes for the official release. I much preferred being able to make many poses and just pick the one I was in the mood for. I hate how it's linked to individual jobs/classes. (It's also kind of annoying how it notifies me that the portrait has changed on screen whenever I switch jobs now.) I don't even play PvP!

I just want to be able to save a pose I've made from the Portraits directly to the Plate again. All my previous poses are lost now and it's impossible to import the Plate's current pose to the Portrait menu. Really bad implementation.

After sucking it up and taking time to get to understand how it all actually works, I mean yeah....it's kinda convenient with how every gearset just has an instance portrait attached to it. But the issue like op and many others have said that we can't apply saved portraits to other gear sets or our adventurer plates. It's way too homogenized.

And what's bad is that this also means I can't ever use my DoL/DoH gearsets to show portraits unless it's for mahjong. It feels extremely limiting.

The problem is that I don't need every gearset to have a portrait. They made the system more complicated that it needs to be. Adventure Plates only need to have three categories: Duty, PvP, Character. You simply lock what ever Plate you want from your saved selection of portraits into each category and regardless of if you swap jobs, change gear, etc that picture is locked until you update it. ex. You use a DoH portrait for the PvP adventure plate and that will be your default regardless of the job you queue into. It will not reset to default pose like you see most of the time.

Oh, I spent 1 hour trying to get different portraits to work. No matter what I do, my portrait doesn't change when I swap between jobs.

I spent like an hour making a new portrait with the new options. It looks amazing. Perfect.

Went to apply it to my Adventurer Plate and.... Nope.

The menu labeled Portraits is now completely separate from the portrait for the AP and is apparently used for a bunch of things that I don't do and don't need constant notifications about every time I change classes.

All that time and effort wasted. Cannot capture the same pose because the emote moves so fast. The angle's all wrong since the numbers don't even reflect the actual camera position.

Sad now.

They should have just kept the beta version…

I still get the gray driver’s license picture in PVP if I so much as extract one materia. The official release was supposed to sacrifice flexibility for consistency but it seems like that isn’t the case. I also did a bug report on how my SAM portrait which used a weapon glow in the LB pose no longer shows the glow. They replied telling me that was intentional and that portrait is now defunct.

I just don't like the fact that I can't have multiple portraits for my plate and that I'm only limited to one. It was fine in the beta version so I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to take that away from us. I don't pvp so that feature is completely useless to me as I can't create anything there and import it to my plate.
