I like Krile a bit, so I'm hoping that Y'shtola will get the boot and she'll take her place.
Yes, I'm a dreamer.
I'm really not interested in goofier sides, thanks.

I've been wanting to see the game becoming a bit more light-hearted and even goofier; we've just gone through a very sad and depressing timeline and i'm not crazy about going through more dark storylines all over again.
I'm even completely open to FFXIV post EW to go completely "anime" because at least i'll smile more and not cry as much. Bring back the silliness and slapstick of Stormblood i say!
Please give us more fish humor.

Journey to all fish: 1383/1729 (348 remaining) [79%]
That seems to be what some people want....which would just be bad writing IMO.
The Scions are as loved as they are partially because we've been on a Journey with them and grew with them for several years, Even Estinian.
And then we get Varshahn who Joins with us on our Post Adventure, Im not excited because "OOOH LOOK, NEW GUY" but rather that we got to know him and his motivations, and our next Adventure directly relates and ties into a part of him; he lost his sister and wants to find and save her. So him joining us has proper motivation, instead of just being slapped on, just cause new guy.
Currently Im not enthused about Zero. She looks cool and is a badass, but she has no Personality outside of that One Snarky remark about briefly not helping us.
Otherwise she is currently a complete Bore to me. I do hope she becomes more interesting outside of her Fashion and Weapon.
I did pay attention. I just didn't get it.
Here's the thing. I understood what was going on, especially being a long-time fan of DrakenNier. I even had to explain what was going on to my FC members who never played a NieR game in their life.
But I didn't get how it was meant to mesh with FF14. The portable archives from Konogg for me only confirmed what I already knew, it didn't offer much in terms of why we were seeing what we were seeing. The story made sense, but it didn't mesh with the rest of the game's plot.
It has nothing to do with me paying attention: it just didn't make sense to me.
You don't need a whole arc to introduce someone, nor do you need 8 new people out of the gate. A couple quests or a cutscene introducing the new "leads" gets the ball rolling, then the journey alongside them starts showing you the finer details. Games, multiseason shows, sequels to movies, etc manage to do this, its not a new concept.
Heck, think back to how Graha was introduced for Crystal Tower: He's briefly mentioned by an existing minor NPC, later he talks off camera while we're off doing our thing, after a few quests he reveals himself and, ta-da, we have a new "important" character thats present for the rest of the CT story (and then some).
An even shorter, simpler intro is Lyna's at the start of SHB:
We land in place we've never been and in ~5 min meet a guy thats eaten offscreen and Lyna. This intro teaches us that this world is dangerous, Lyna is a guard, and Lyna is a no-nonsense person. Thats all we needed! Any further aspects of her personality or story were set to be discovered as we got to know her better.

Oh look another thread of "the entire cast sucks, we should just make an entirely new game at this point cuz that's what we want."
Maybe...I don't know... take a break and play games where you actually like the cast? Not liking the cast is a "you" problem. Not a writer problem. Not everyone is gonna like certain characters, but if someone hates all the characters and still sticks around expecting it to be different, that's on them. I happen to be a fan of Krile and want to see more involvement. I want to see her meet Ryne, considering her and Minfilia were close friends.
Also I find it funny people say she's boring, but then say they skipped most of the quest she was actually in. The first words out of her mouth when we first meet her is teasing Alphinaud and reminded him what a little spoiled brat he used to be with him panicking about it...
While not dumping characters on us, FFXI had almost entirely new cast in some of its expansions. Zilart, COP and WoTG had decently sized teams. ToAU also had a core group with some characters from the main area visiting from time to time.
The big problem FFXIV would have doing this, is that we need a group of 3 characters by level 91 for the first dungeon for the trust system.
I have no idea why you want to change FFXIV from its origins as a balanced high fantasy story into that. There are other games that suit those specific tastes better than this one ever could.I've been wanting to see the game becoming a bit more light-hearted and even goofier; we've just gone through a very sad and depressing timeline and i'm not crazy about going through more dark storylines all over again.
